I just don’t get it... it was widely reported that before the cap penalty we had about $800k left in our cap. I’m no mathematical genius but by my calculations 800 minus 330 is 470 and then you add Darcy’s 200 to get 670.

I'm pretty sure that Thommo's money still needed to come out of that $800k as his contract hadn't been registered at that time. That brings your figures down to about $170k.

Without Darcy's $200k we would be -$30k on the cap, which is what I said in the salary cap thread over a month ago.

From the following post from @smithy (from another thread), it looks like Darcy's balance of cap dollars is freed up but he still takes up one spot in the cap.......

I could be wrong. But My understanding is players who leave like Darcy only count until June 30. Years gone by clubs would certainly release one and bring a new one in etc.

If that has changed, and Darcy and anyone else the club now release still count, then Manly would have a much greater problem. We only have one vacant spot left in the team before releases are considered. So we would be crazy to release anyone.

eg: In Tom's interview he was asked:

At which I would answer:"There's not, it's false information you made up." for every question.

I'm with you - personally at this point I would rather upgrade Suli and Faunu to NRL contracts and keep other clubs at bay from signing them.

Gorman came out and said we were about $350k under the cap- we then copped a $330k cap penalty leaving us with about $20k.
