Open letter to Twent Barrett

Yes my son. What sin have you committed this time to be seeking my attention?

I never understood my old man's questioning after I'd received a brutal flogin, I'd be doing my best cut snake impression on the floor, and he'd follow up with, 'Keep that up and I'll really give you something to cry about! Like what?....stab me with the kitchen knife?....i never did find out what the next level of torture was....just another day growing up in the 70's!

Anyone know what Lussick was on? In my head I think it was $340K, for some reason. Too much for what he gave back, I guess - and it leaves us open to get some 'depth players' at least... But is that going to be enough? Is it worth getting rid of a club favourite in Darcy, and bringing in two players of less standing? Does that mean a prop on, say, $180K and another half on about the same? Time will tell...
Surely we're still paying some of Darcy's money. The question is, how much?

We have already paid about 6 months worth according to Gorman, so Toronto would more than pick up the remainder. I don’t think we will be paying any more for him, but what we have paid is counted against the Cap of course.

We might be about $200k under the Cap now (Darcy was on about $400k), which means we should be able to purchase a player/s worth $400k total per year, but only have to pay half given we are mid way through the payment cycle for this year.

That’s sounds familiar. Getting a kick up the date or a clip across the ear for doing nothing wrong was a classic “what was that for Dad”....”For the next thing you do wrong”

Yeah except in this instance Barrett isn't a parent, he's the coach of a professional football team who is paid to get them winning football games. Right now he's letting personality clashes and/or behind the scenes agendas get in the way of putting his best available side on the park.

I don't think Hastings is the Messiah who will turn our team around and suddenly make them premiership contenders. But he is a damn sight better option than Lachlan Croker ever will be and our side would be 100% better off with Hastings in the halves. With Croker as our 5/8 we have a 12 man attack and 12 1/2 man defence.

As an NRL coach Trent Barrett is losing more than he is winning and regardless that he signed a contract extension last year.....if he doesn't turn things around then there is going to come a time, maybe even this year or at the end of it, when the club will cast him aside and go in a different direction.....with a different coach.

Just maybe he is not making the decisions, maybe he is coaching what he is told to coach???

I really dont know what the fark is going on anymore with this club.

Nothing about that articles inspires me.

It looks like a statement saying Trent has no clue what to do, and the players have no clue on their future.

Tomorrow nights performance will be telling the real truth about where this club is at.

Seeing as Greenturd said we were cap compliant when the penalty dropped, and we have since released Lussick, I still don't get how we don't have much. We should have at least Lussick's pro rata cap hit and change. Unless Trent is trying very badly to pre-lowball any future signing.

I wonder if it makes more sense (and also if it's even possible) to prepay next years cap penalty with Lussicks money and promote from within.

Either Baz's statement makes it sound like no troops are coming soon, more likely when the appeal is finalised.
Loobs don't forget we need to bring an extra 1 possibly 2 players in by June 30. (Myles) making up the numbers at 29 Is a fair chance of only being until June 30. So Darcy and say Hastings out, that money freed up, would have to buy 3 or 4 by June 30.

Typical TB... positive talks but nothing to show. look at your stats TB.
TB and DCE are nothing but "used car salesman" for the media.
they would be perfect politicians

dont believe a word they say between them.

I am struggling to see ,who they could realistically sign, that would genuinely add to the side?

I am still at a complete loss in understanding the whole Jackson Hastings issue? If his behaviour is what they are hinting at, they would have grounds under any normal contract to sack him. Otherwise, they should be empsthetic in dealing with someone who has a different personality. That is not a crime. He is also a very talented player who us on better form that 95% of the first grade 17. It would be courteous if someone from the club could enlighten us.

I'm with you - personally at this point I would rather upgrade Suli and Faunu to NRL contracts and keep other clubs at bay from signing them.

I just used to keep a list, then when I got to about 18 years old and was a foot taller than him and about 30kgs of muscle stronger I showed him the list and asked which reciprocal beating he'd like.

That taught the ****er.

From the following post from @smithy (from another thread), it looks like Darcy's balance of cap dollars is freed up but he still takes up one spot in the cap.......
Our roster is a work in progress we are currently working on signings, at the moment they are external not promotion from within.

In regards the cap position with Myles and Lussick the way it works is you can only have 30 players on NRL contracts players 30-26 are a minimum of 70k players 25-1 are a minimum for 100k. So if a player is paid a termination fee like Myles in 2018 or a player leaves mid season like Lussick and they fall within the above numbers they count as a position in the Top 30. My understanding is Lussick was on just over 400k so with 6 months gone he has been paid just over 200k that fits him well within our top 30 cost wise and as so, despite freeing up 200k from the cap he still takes a place and must remain on that list despite the fact he cant take the field for us. Similar to Myles who was paid part of his contract fee for this year, it also fits within the top 30 as such he uses up a place and means we can only have up to 28 players available each week at best.

I just don’t get it... it was widely reported that before the cap penalty we had about $800k left in our cap. I’m no mathematical genius but by my calculations 800 minus 330 is 470 and then you add Darcy’s 200 to get 670.

From reading the numbnuts I thought we were doing nothing ..... maybe Trent could phone all the fans individually in future ....

Wouldn't take him long lol[/QUOTE]

You are probably correct .... if some of the shiit dickheads post on this site is indicative of the fan base ....

It's why I keep banging on about it. And I am a mathematical genius. In fact here I am trying to work it out...

Joel was recruited after the 800 was suggested as Manly's kitty @

We need GI to do the math and the rest of us to cheer the motley crew of Sea Eagles to victory

Must be hard during interviews. If I was Trent I'd be looking at the reporters thinking "You're the douche that printed this b/s...and you're the tosser that said this"

Then I'd probably spit on them all, tell 'em to suck it and walk off after grabbing all their mic's and dropping them.

Maybe
