Expansion pioneer John Ribot believes it’s time for Sydney rugby league clubs to adopt a Melbourne Storm style vision and realise the club that takes the interstate plunge may be a major winner.

“It’s time for Sydney clubs to think of where they might be in 20 or 30 years,’’ said Ribot, the man who guided the Broncos and Melbourne Storm into the NRL.

So they should be owned by news limited then?

Redcliffe Dolphins
Perth Bears

Done

No relocations unless a club goes absolutely broke.

Manly should be working on taking in the north shore, enough time has passed. Sure the old crusted on bears will never support us but we should be in all those schools and junior programs etc

Seems the NRL were keen to relocate or punt the Sharks in 2018? Interesting read (well, the first half at least).

It should have happened.

Crazy we have Dragons in control of St George Area + Illawarra and Sharks are in the middle controlling Northies

Manly should control the entire north shore and central coast. No issues playing a couple of matches at Gosford

Agreed. One glaring criticism to be made of Manly is that they have not grown their base since the JV Beagles died to encompass all of Sydney north of the harbour, west to Cherrybrook and beyond Hornsby and into the Central Coast. Putting 75 years anniversary flags on the Manly promenade hardly speaks to Warringah (within which Brookie is), let alone these other areas.

Mind you despite this the NRL seem quite happy to let Manly die or relocate and leave no team at all between Milsons Point and Newcastle. But as we know, with Manly a dead club the region would just all become 'Sydney' Roosters territory from Bondi to Lake Macquarie.
