At the Anzac day booze up in 1974 at the Harbord Diggers, I was there accompanied by my Dad and my Uncle Jim, who was over from the UK visiting. Uncle Jim was a veteran of Dieppe and at 54 was still 6' 6" of Royal Marine Commando. While I was at the bar, an argument developed with an adjoining table after Jim overheard a bloke with a german accent. I arrived at the point, when Jim bent over this bloke and yelled in his face "I used to get 4 bob a day to shoot you bastards, Best job I ever had". Dad and I sat him back down, the other table left. The New Age rules never applied back then.

I just don't like violence mate (these days). Just shows a lack of restraint and education. There's no point to it. Goes without saying the other guy is also a disgrace but that’s an obvious one. Security should have just been called and escorted him out. Beating him up in front of everyone is not tough. It’s not as if he could fight back. He couldn’t even hold a beer. There was no need for it.

Old mate Bronco has a decent chin, or the Doggie couldn't knock the skin off a custard.

I'm not a fan of the moron who wants to call out during a minutes silence, but can't say having 2 or 3 guys pile into a drunk older guy is a particularly heroic action either. Hopefully the Bronco learnt a lesson and thankfully he didn't seem too affected by the attack.
