Big Oka has been easily our Best forward the past 2 years and now is rewarded with a Vice Captaincy role.
For a bloke who has come so far I feel it's a great reward and a worthy decision also.
His powerful impact on every game offers X factor also and this added responsabilty does not so much add pressure, but compliments his performances and what a bloke to have the youngsters look up to.
Feel this was a great decision by Siebold and the Manly staff and is another positive cog leading into the 2025 season.
What's the thoughts Silvertail's ?

Definitely a good move, future captain. Cant imagine he is a big talker but he will be a follow me into the trenches leader.

Great Thread for our Great Manly player @maxta

It is said that the Most Powerful Leadership tool that you have is your own Personal Example
Big Oka is the Epitome of Power that Intimidates the opposition and Inspires his team mates
Big Oka is a Born Leader
Born Leaders lead by Example
The do not tell others what to do
They Show others what to do and Inspire them

Considering he is on a long term contract now , can 't see any problem and even a net plus to complement his general playing contribution .
Recently noticed some news report comparing club 's individual forward running or speed times and Oka rated the quickest at Manly.
Would have definitely thought Bully or surely would be the case but Oka is still deceptively mobile

He has Size , He has Strength and he has the Skill
He is also very Agile for such a Big Man
He can be Anything he wants to if he wants it bad enough
He is the reason Many Become Manly supporters and come to the ground to watch him play
He is not just a player . He is an Entertainer.

Well said @maxta and a well-deserved appointment.

And he certainly is big! I ran into Haumole and another player at my local Woolies yesterday (if I'm not mistaken but pretty much unmistakable by his tatts) and both players are huge, as in tall, muscly but looked super fit.

It's a smart move by the coaching staff, he's already a weapon but the added responsibility may get the extra couple of % we need when our backs are against the wall.

I agree it’s a good call considering he is now earning the big $$. I will be happy if he leads by example by never repeating or doing anything similar to the antics that occurred during the 3rd origin game…. where he was not even in the listed team but still managed to earn himself a suspension….

Except that neither of those is his real nickname. Why make them up?
Most people including commentators had no idea how to pronounce his last name when he was young so it probably has just stuck in peoples heads since then. I’ve heard heaps of people call him Oka, alot that don’t even support manly. Has he complained about it? I really don’t think he would care as much as you do lmao

Im glad a few get it, he certainly does
Ok if you are saying you know him and he doesn't care, that's fine and good to know.
Nevertheless it's fairly well known that a lot of people from Tongan and other Pacific island backgrounds do hold their family and ancestral connection and heritage very close.
So even though many may never complain they'd possibly appreciate the effort (Just a thought.)

(And Hey! it's probably hard to correctly spell Manly-Warringah the first time you hear it - but it's worth it)
🙂
