Oh... and Cleary was better than Wighton who was better than Walker...

Keep Cleary, start Wighton (he'll learn a lot from his couple of errors last night) and bring peachey back in as 14....

Cleary average
Walker should be dropped
Jake, klemmer, Vaughan, tedesco, Murray and cook can hold their heads high.
On another note why the $%#@ didn't klemmer come back on and why was jake rested so long.
Really could have done with a Maloney out there

Murray ineffective at this level.Haas ok but putting a kid on with only one prop off the bench....interesting.Poor selections all round and need some hard type players who match the Qld agro off the bench. We had a decent starting side apart from Walker.Would be prepared to persist with Haas but needs a Gillard type helping him.Sims needs to be there to bash some people too....If Keary is out then Reynolds/Maloney or even Pearce would be better.

Cleary has been ordinary for whatever reason all season and carried that into SOO...can't just hit a switch like some expected.
To go with this, Walker is a confidence player who finds it hard getting into a physical contest and defensively is a Massive red flag.
The combination was poor and the key reason behind the loss.
Not a Massive Pearce fan, but his form is white hot and he gets involved in the style of footy played last night....has had his own share of poor games in SOO, but would have him and Keary in for game 2.
Reynold is also an option, as would control the start of the Qld sets far better off his boot.
Wighton should be told to run the ball or pass early, he is not a ball player.

I can't help thinking if the halves were AReynolds and CWalker the blues would go a lot better. Calker may not look like he's "made for origin" or whatever tripe Gus goes on with but I think he is great working off the back of 1) Cook's dummy half awesomeness and 2) AReynold's deft kicking game.

Hey people I'm just back from the pub and smashed a plate of mussels washed down with a fine savvy blanc and was wondering, who do you guys reckon lost NSW the match more?

Cleary was obviously terrible and should be pushed towards the "Mitchell Pearce - don't not fkn pick again both he and his old man are overrated" corner. But he was valiantly assisted by "drop ball miss tackle please never kick again throw intercept pass" Wighton. Guy was terrible. Did not like.

Mussels and Savvy Blanc, FMD you sound like my Mrs!!

What’s wrong with an old fashioned Scooey and a Kebab after a game ??

Lol

Have to say as well. Pearce would of been a better option. The one thing we missed was an experienced half. And i know we love bagging the bloke but he did lose all his games while qld had the superstars playing . Cronk, thurstan smith gi slater ect.

Let’s face it Cleary, Walker, Mitchell we’re absolute **** last night!!

We were no hope in the second half.
I dunno Mark... I reckon those playmakers shouldn't be judged solely on their offence coz they didnt have the ball at all in the 2nd half... I may be wrong but I can't remember seeing Cleary or Mitchell miss a tackle and NSW had an awesome completion rate when they did have the ball so imo credit goes to the defensive pressure from Qld...
Early in the first half our forwards were rolling which allowed cook and teddy to play through broken defensive structures but those opportunities were non-existent in 2nd half... whilst chances to build pressure were missed early, I think missed tackles and slow play the balls is what killed us last night and a lot of that is on the players in the middle of the ruck...

NSW have shot themselves in the foot by selecting Cleary and Walker 1st game, Cleary who really only tackled last year and took a backseat to Maloney and clearly out of from so far this year paired with a rooky. Brain surgeon in aisle Blue please.
Now Walker and Cleary should be dropped, meaning we are starting with a new halves pairing again, or back to square one with Maloney and Cleary anyway for game 2.
If Cleary was to be picked, then Maloney should have been as well for game 1, specially with Keary out injured , jesus this is getting confusing all these y's ey's ....

Personally I would have had Reynolds on before either Cleary or Walker.

Cook, Tedesco, Jake the forwards should feel ripped by the halves.

Keep Addo-Carr but put him on notice, he jams into no mans land again and papers are stamped.
Maloney/Cleary halves.
Haas/Wighton over Peachey/Sims.

Maybe some new assistants or even a head coach with a brain too, I understand Origin coaches are primarily motivators but **** me Freddy is cooked and the scary thing is it's nothing new.

So many better more cohesive options were available than the halves ‘pairing’ we had to watch last night.

The Luke Keary injury must of really thrown the blues selectors off prior to game 1.
However we still would have been better off with either;

James Maloney & Chad Townsed
(Cronulla 2016 premiership combo) **

James Maloney & Nathan Cleary
(Incumbents- Maloney carries Cleary again)

James Maloney & Adam Reynolds
(Both premiership winning halves & both experienced origin before)

James Maloney & Cody Walker
(Premiership winner/ incumbent to assist another debutant in top form for his club)

James Maloney & Mitchell Pearce
(Just kidding, Pearce off Mitchell)

Adam Reynolds & Cody Walker
(Form club halves combination and Adams been there before at least)

There’s still more sequences and options that could have been..
•Maloney
•Cleary
•Townsed
•Walker
•Pearce
•Reynolds
•Wighton

Cleary and Walker were not the best combination to pick from that lot.

Game 2-
•We might have some top line centres back from injury or finding form.
•We get Tommy Turbo back in the team. •Luke Keary will likely just need to stay injury free
•RCG or Jordan McLean on the bench instead of Cameron Murray (plays hard but in effective and surplus to Jurbo)
•Crichton to find last years form or make way for Tariq Sims or someone else in form.

Just a few thoughts :think::whew:
