Well I guess the real question is why is Schu not going? There are guys like Woods going and they are not in the top 30.
SER8 has answered your question perfectly and I too understand why Schu's staying home.Totally disagree. He's got a calf niggle and history of calf problems, zero point in having him sitting on a plane for 15 or 20 hours or whatever it is.
Plus he finished in reserve grade last year, he's got to earn first grade and those who have put in the work deserve the 'lifetime experience (as Seibs calls it) of the Vegas trip;
Plus, they mentioned they want fit players who can participate fully in training, Sipley can do that, Schu cannot.
Ps I am sure I am not the only one who understands the treatment of Schu
The difference is Schu's injured, Sipley isn't and Woods was used to promote the game and will probably continue to. Both Sipley and Woods will do the media stuff and help the boys prepare for the game.
As to why Schu's not going and can't train with the team - "Seibold said Schuster has been given time to recover from a recent calf strain. “The medical staff has said that due to ongoing tightness, that medically we’re not comfortable having him return to play and that we want to take a more conservative approach,'' Seibold added. “We will leave him here hoping that he will return in the near future with the expectation that he will be playing again from round two.” In other words, he's in rehab focusing on recovering from his calf strain and hopefully will be fit for round two.
