In fact, when Delmege and co. were threatenning to oust Mayer, Quantum made the \"out there\" statement, that they would not renew, should he be gone.
Funnily enough, they held to that.
And instead lobbed in a chunk of money to buy out Max and take equity rather than sponsorship...

Yes, your point is? I'd also question your "take equity" suggestion. Maybe a re-word would be a good idea 🙂
Fact is, Mayer attained major sponsors. He (and his team) gained the club corporate partners like Mack Trucks, Quantum etc.
Now, I want it be known that I am VERY impressed with the partnership Lowey has attained with Centerbet. I am VERY impressed Lowey has agreed on the "building from within" policy I'm sure Crusher and Des have very intelligently suggested. I am VERY impressed that funds are currently being used to upgrade our great home ground. I am VERYT impressed Lowey is seeking alternative revenue streams (double headers / games in PNG etc). I am kind of impressed that memberships have become more affordable (not so impressed the cost of that is additional home games are being taken away).
There are many positives as well Vidmar. That being said, nobody's perfect, and as much as you tow the party line these days, the club can improve in a number of areas, such as:-
1) Public relations, public relations, public relations (goodwill)
2) Marketing
3) Corporate Partner acquistion
4) P&L and Balance Sheet management (just a guess here)
5) Media Relations
For mine, the club has deteriorated in one of the most important elements that makes clubs great. In my mind, that is about making fans feel like they are part of the family. Since Lowey has come on board, and again, this might be just me, but the divide between the fans / club is greater than I have seen in years. Fans don't have affinity with the club, because it looks as though the club itself is lost. Lacks website management. Lacks information. Lacks media presence. Etc, etc, etc...
These area's could be addressed with a young, innovative, positive, energetic CEO. It is what we currently don't have. I'm sorry.
Again, though - there ARE positives at the same time. I just guess priorities for the club are what they are, regardless of what is right and/or wrong.
