Need another prop pronto

We have some good forwards coming through. We should just work on developing them as they have huge futures. We got the fainu prop brothers coming up, Saddler is developing, paseka and keppie are the future. Our prop rotation is firing atm and is a huge factor in our season revival. If there's one aspect of depth to be confident about in our team it is our middle forwards.
I agree completely but feel we are one gun forward away, and walker+fainu back, from being a top 4 team.

If we snagged someone like Tapine quality our side could be a comp winner.
depends on where Marty is next year I guess.

Round 20 team could be something of beauty

1 Tommy 2 Saab 3 Walker 4 Harper 5 Garrick 6 Foran 7 DCE 8 Aloiai 9 Fainu 10 Paseka 11 Olakau’atu 12 Schuster 13 Trbojevic
14 Parker 15 Taupau 16 Keppie 17 Lawton
18 Sironen 19 Cust 20 Suli 21 Croker
Jeeze louise
that would be an amazing team to go into September with. Very lethal across the park. I just hope that left hand side can develop and become as dangerous as our right hand side. I'm so happy with how harper and saab are progressing but our weakness in attack really is that garrick parker side. Hope walker makes a big difference when he slots in there. And as for Fainu, genuinely the missing piece from us being a dark horse to being an actual premiership threat that can knock off Melbourne or Penrith.

The realty is Shuster is a brilliant player. He plays outside the mould. Like in all various field's of endeavour that comes with it's downside. The worst thing that Manly can do is to punish his mistakes by curbing his creativity. Let him do his thing. Just be sure that those around him are prepared to use his unconventiality.
Perfect summation.

Yeh nah. We have enough cover already. Let's focus on developing what we have, instead of buying a second rate prop that is surplus to requirements from another team. Paseka, Taupau, Keppie, Sipley, Saddler as prop rotation plus Jake as prop/lock option looks pretty good to me. Manly needs an inside out approach to recruitment and retention now, and not an outside in approach. Let's not fill holes with has beens and never will be's.
Clearly our strategy is to develop from within. But you still need to purchase quality from outside to win comps. I’m thinking an established first grade front rower added here and now could allow us to better compete against the next tier of teams. We win periods of matches but not the whole match. We even did it against Penrith two weeks ago. We aren’t beating them without a bit more starch in the middle.

A good summary, I feel Parker has been fairly solid and some of his defence has been top shelf...in attack though, there were 2 second man plays where and Parker and Garrick were put into space by Turbo, with daylight ahead - Parker let the ball go to ground, not even making a play for it....and how Garrick did not score from close range is hard to understand, as 95% of NRL wingers would have scored from there...

Good point
This is a close comp and we need competent players to be able to close games !

With Marty back this week I'd be happy with Paseka and Keppie as starting props with Marty and Toff as first change, with Schu and Mole in the second row with Saddler or Siro, if available, on the bench with Cust .... when is Lawton available? ... must be soon

Its an interesting idea. Not something I have ever really contemplated before. Maybe Sirro to lock and Jake into the prop rotation instead?
but then you come back to the situation of Jake having long minutes off the park if he was to revert to prop . Jake is like a rock in defence as the 13 and very much doubt that Siro could replicate that . not to say that the notion of Sirro as a lock would not have some merit , Maybe when Jake is on S O O duties .

thought that Lawton was round 11 but would surely expect him to start initially at least at Black Town , Siro if fully fit should be too good for Black Town but same really applies to Suli as well .

If we can manage to let Marty go id throw 400k at Papali'i from the eels and target a centre or someone like marata nuikore who can cover both centre and backrow from the pine

That's a bold statement...;-)

Noway will Jake make SOO.....too many better lock forwards going around. Unfortunately Jake has been left behind the likes of Isaah Yeo, Cam Murray, Nat Butcher etc. He’ll struggle to even get into the squad. Too many errors & 6 agains in his game & I don’t think the SOO selectors want a liability in the team no matter how good Jake is. Week in week out Jake gives away set restarts & it will cost us big time during the finals.....as it did in 2019! I don’t know if it’s coz he’s lazy getting off players or whether he’s instructed to do it. I wish he’d just get it out of his game!

Disagree Jake will be there. Look at how he combines with Tom. Will be able to do the same with Tedesco as well. Also the fact he can play 80 mins will cement his spot IMO.

I'm not a fan of judging Sirro on his 2019/2020 form...I reckon Guoca, Keppie have exceeded what Sirro showed early 2021 and he needs to fight from Blacktown to break into the 17....sends a bad message to young blokes in form and only improving, to be sat out for the more experienced bloke based on just that - experience, not form...

Yeo will be lock....Jake might scrape it onto the bench but highly doubt it. Yeo with Cleary will be the preferred option & if Luai is there then it’s guaranteed! Jake is nowhere near the player Yeo is.....defensively they’re equal, attack Yeo is far ahead & speed... again Yeo!
