Most on here have been crying out for Manase to return, mainly for his direct running game which is seen as something we are missing. Segeyaro is Fainu 2.0. I dont get the hate about this signing... imagine Turbo and DCE running riot through the middle with the space created by Segeyaro. He is a specialist utility and would be dynamic off the bench for a 25 to 30 minute stint. We were lucky last year with Croker playing most games , we might not be so lucky this year and its a position we definitely need depth. And I'm not buying the whole he is blocking a junior... seriously (Chee Tom???) would be 18 months away from NRL.
If Croker goes down id start Lawton for 30 mins and then bring on Segeyaro, I wouldn't want Lawton playing 80 mins at hooker.
Fair enough, when you put it like that. Our gun junior hookers are still juniors and will play Ball, Matthews and Flegg, realistically.

Music to my ears . Most sensible post !

Let's also not forget that only last week Dean Richie was talking about Manlys lack of depth at 9.

He seemed to discuss Walkz as our back up 9 which seems odd given 2021.

He also made no mention of Lawton when discussing hooker. Also very odd.

I still say D.R. is usually on the money with all things Manly.

Lawton was so bloody impressive as a hole running backrower. Quick and nimble enough for hooker/ halves.

DES might see a superstar in yet another position yet.

I agree, Lawton played his best footy for us in the backrow. Was a standout in every game he started on the left. I’d like to see more of it but we are very light on at hooker.

Having some NRL experience in players like Chiko and Dargen creates options.

If Walkz is actually training at 9 those options only increase.

DES is a cagey old trickster who also loves to fuel some fake news.

But no doubt he has a plan or 3.

Dargen is the dark horse, I really rate him and think he can offer a lot as a depth player

I think it is more Fainus' vision and creativity we want, not a dummy half darter.
I actually suggested Segeyaro a while back just as he was getting suspended lol,I have no issue with the signing if it is a Blacktown signing or development signing.
I don't know if it is possible or advisable to carry a specialist dummy half on the bench anymore( I get the value as a runner at tired defenses),I think most sides want their 9 to play 80 minutes nowadays and have someone on the bench with utility value.

Segeyaro was washed up 3 years ago when his name was thrown around as a replacement for fainu... I can't imagine he's gotten any better after a 2 year ban..
Hard pass thanks
Yea it does seem like a bit of a panic signing… especially if the Croker injury is true. We literally have no one else!

Wow I expect to take Rothfield's "Big Name " headlines with a grain or a bucket of salt....but he's found a new level with Segeyaro.

Anyway, a Blacktown signing more likely to stay out there than to play NRL again in my book. Harmless I guess.

I think this could be an amazing signing.
Segeyaro’s playing style is very similar to Koroisau, he could take turbos play around the ruck to another level if he can get back to where he was before he was booted.

Back to where he was in 2014 you mean. He hasn’t been great or overtly dynamic since those panthers days. He has been reduced to low impact, I’ll discisplined, mistake riddled cameos largely since then. Jake turnip (sp?) kept him on the bench in also ran broncos squads.

He had lost his zip and fast twitch which is what He really only had.

Will do as back up, but not something to get at all excited about

Good point feathered friend . At his dynamic best Segy is another level we need to step up from the predictable Croker .

At 31 years young you do not lose your zip unless you lose your passion

If Segy still has the passion he can still be capable of being dynamic
