Given we are probably light on up front and appears we will lose Darcy we probably need to sign at least one forward to complete our roster.

Assuming one spot goes to Moses Suli I’d like to see the final two spots to be filled by the below possibilities (in order).

Josh Papali (perhaps raiders would pay part of his contract)
Todd Carney
Suaia Matagi
Willis Meehan (if NRL will clear)
Dave Taylor
Suaso Sue
Tim Grant
Luke Page
Nathaniel Neale

A few additions from the mother country who are off contact at the end of the year. Sam Moa, Pauli Pauli, Alex Wamsley, Sika Manu.

Moeroa is the only forward probably worth looking at from Parra. Maybe even Matagi.

Brown is on less than $200K. WE got rid of Buhrer, who was on (i think) $360K, and brought in Brown to do that job cos he was cheaper. And ****, as it turned out.

If Lussick goes we can definitely afford any two of the list I put up (bear in mind we would only be paying about 25% of the contract of anyone we sign from another club given the NRL financial year is half over and the other club would most likely top it up)

I believe we will win our appeal - but even on top of that releasing Lussick, Brown, Uate, Myles (all plodders) we free up $1.8 million ample amount to sign some nrl quality players to support what is already a strong core of rep quality players in Turbo, Dylan, DCE, Api, Marty, AFB and Jake plus young players on the up Suli, Kelly, Jetski and Paseka.

Uate is hardly a plodder. He may have feet for hands but he is the antithesis of a plodder

I hope recruitment reads this but the man I would target is in the UK and should still be in the NRL. Sitaleki Akualoa! Would be a perfect bench impact addition to the club

The reason the Eels are struggling is because of Arthur's intensity. He has mentally ****ed that group of players with way too much pressure to perform, constant nagging and unrealistic demands. Not one Eel is enjoying their football right now. When they were bounced out of the finals last year, Arthur lost it. He has taken the intensity and will to win too far.

Sounds like Maguire at Souths. Except that, unlike Arthur, he had a premiership to show for it.

I don't believe we have ANY cash left to sign anyone unless we release players first/simultaneously.

The 330k/year penalty for 2 years figure wasn't pulled from thin air. Strange numbers 330k and 660k, don't you think? Never seen anything but whole numbers as penalties before. There has never been a 2 year penalty before either. There is a definite reason for such obscure penalty numbers.

I believe 330k was chosen because that is the amount we have left in the cap this year after registering Thommo and they made it carry over to next year as 660k is more like a real penalty so it appears kosher.
Releasing Darcy NOW e.g would net us about 200k unless the TWP pay him more than 200k for the remainder of his 2018 Manly contract.
I doubt we will have enough to buy anyone decent mid-season unless we win the appeal, and even if we do, I seriously doubt that would happen before september, let alone before july 1.
I also don't think we are guilty as charged, but that is worth nothing.

It's bad...but I think that's where we are really at now...and will be even worse off next year if we don't win the appeal.

Releasing Darcy(400k), Poo(300k?) and ridding ourselves of Miles(500k) for 2019 would give us about 1.2M(?) more than we had this year BUT will make us 2 MORE players under the 30 (will make it 26)... with upgrades to come for quite a few.

Listened to the Cliffy interview on some podcast and he said they were on win bonuses and that certainly heightened the winning initiative.

At this point I think we don’t need any mid season signings. I hope that the next player we sign is someone who has Premiership winning experience to bring to our young team. We really need another leader out there if we are going to be consistent. I don’t even really care if they aren’t flashy or particularly good, just so long as they do the basics right and help our culture. I wish we had someone like heighington this year.
