Do you mean the Mike McLean who played Origin for Qld in 1991-92? He started his career at the Easts Tigers in Brisbane before moving to the Chooks where he played 52 games (1985-90), 17 for Newcastle (1991) and 16 games for the Gold Coast Seagulls in 1992.

Same reason he let Inglis go, and Hoffman, Blair, Koroibete, Widdop, Chambers, etc.
In other words, they got busted for the cap once and cant afford to be caught again.
