They also lose the pathetic performance of last nights opposition to make a few of those players look better
Sorry mate - you can only play whoever you play against. You can only worry about your own performance. I am not worried at all or concerned with how the Warriors went - just concerned with what we put on tape. What we put on tape was very good. Now we need to deliver another similar performance next week. Sometimes it is pretty decent when the side plays well to accept that, recognise that and not focus on the buts or the what ifs.

A nice win but I have no faith in Schuster to be our only 5/8 next season. Take the win but some questions going forward.
The coaching staff have got some work to do on young Josh, time will tell whether they're up to the job, Josh has always had huge potential but his exuberance needs to be toned down, he's got the potential to be one of our greats, let's hope he gets there

Not sure his potential sits along our greats as yet.

Let’s just see him reach the potential of a consistent & regular NRL first grader for several years and then adjust up

Agree though , we have our work cut out but so does josh

But that was the problem with last year. They beat up on the woeful teams, then didn’t get anywhere near the teams that matter.Yes it was a good win last night but all I took out of it was 2 points. It’s like those who got excited by Blacktowns 2nd win of the season yesterday and demanded players from there replace those in first grade.Until there’s better opposition,it proves nothing.Happy for the two points though

Good win yesterday but still plenty to improve on which is good the next few weeks are must wins when back a Brookie but first a win against the tigers
When Manly’s forwards have a go Manly are in the game need this to keep happening

I was rather surprised by some of the comments made about Manly's win, especially the usual knockers of Schuster and DCE (who didn't play)

A few facts here
1.This was Manly's biggest win of the season and it was done without our two premier players Turbo and DCE
2. The Warriors are not cellar dwellers and have only had one bad loss all season before Manly hit them (the Storm game). They've defeated Brisbane, Nth Queensland and only just lost to Souths and Roosters. They are a middle tier side and Manly thumped them.
3 Schuster has only just come back from an extended injury and had played 5/8 only twice in first grade. And remember he has only just turned 21. Not match fit but still spun his magic. Rusty naturally. But do we overlook the fact that Manly's biggest win of the season was with him at 5/8. Was that of no consequence to the win? Not yet match fit for sure. But we have some very tough critics out there. I remember this same criticism of Walker, which unsurprisingly went quiet when Walker strung some excellent games together
4 DCE is a class player, one of the best half backs we've had at Manly. But he cant do it all on his own when the team are not functioning as a unit, which it hasn't been. Bit harsh to blame it all on him. Sure he over plays when the team is faltering. He may not be a great ball player, but he has other skills such as speed, a great kicking game, great defense, and a game winning ability, which few in the side have. Yes he makes mistakes but you place him in a side like Penrith and he would go gangbusters.

This side has several players to come back. Manly have copped injury problems to key players that have thwarted their efforts this year. I also don't like Des's compressed defense style, which leaves the backs exposed. Its a good side easily capable of a top 4 position...but not this year. Just needs stability.
The warriors are not a middle tier team. I’ve watched all their matches. They will go close to the spoon this year. Was still a good win tho and pretty much what I predicted would happen pre game.

Yeah from memory Steve played lower grades in the halves. Wayne was a forward so given that bloke is pretty small it could be Steve.
Middle brother Tony also played with Manly before moving to the Bears. Played hooker. Was behind Max, Ray Brown and John Gray. Steve played lower grades in the halves. Still a top golfer at Warringah. Wayne played in GF in back row before moving to Steelers.

Ok yeah I forgot about Tony.

Aside from schus errors the attack looked significantly better at times. The main thing missing was DCE’s far superior long kicking game. Neither schu or foz have a long boot on them.
I'd be playing DCE at number 9. DCE is a good player but he is not a good game manager and makes very poor decisions at times at crucial stages of a game. He gets 40 - 20 kicks from dummy half at times so we would still benefit form his long kicking game.

Bit of a trivial point but don't think that A F B has played against Manly since he left , . May have not made that much difference on Saturday night but could well have on the two closer games last season . Manly have had their share of problems with some good organized attack [ though foz 's presence has certainly helped again '] but nowhere near the Warriors currently has .

They are the 70s lussicks

A good win and there are some good lessons there for the coaching staff if they take note. A very good performance by the pack who have struggled at times this year. But we had the glut if the possession in the first half and the warriors like us against better sides got gassed without the footy.

Had a better completion rate against the Warriors but some terrible outcomes in some prior games this season . One reason why D C E has been a bit spasmodic with his form and with the pack more on the back foot with limited possession . Has shown indications of directing play better in some games so it is not as if he is not capable of reasonable game management , In terms of the most effective forward line , not sure if a back row of Schuster at 13 , Oloka - atu and Davey in the back row and a front row rotation of Alioia , Jake , Paseka and the pick out of Sipley , Marty and Keppie or the status quo with Jake still at 13 , Schuster and Oloka and so on . D C E really should not need the forward pack to always have some form of ruck dominance or at least being competitive but seems to be a prerequisite in most instances .

We played well and won because we did not commit too many errors .I keep on saying that if we commit less errors than the opposition or even the same amount ,we can beat anyone .We were committing errors like the Warriors did through all our losses so far .Last year we started our run after the warriors game . Let's get in the 8 boys and go from there .

Strong disagree from me - Foran on the right edge just highlighted that DCE cannot pass the ball to the right player at the right time. - We absolutely do not need a hooker who cannot do that, it would cramp our attack up on both sides.

So why have a half back that can't pass to the right player?? We can't just send him to Blacktown on the money he's on. Hooker is the right move for him.

It's a confidence thing we had last year, everything fell into place. Good signs on Sat night for a turnaround in form for our key players. Next game against the Tigers should tell us where DCE is at mentally, he usually bounces back really well after an Origin game.

We were also on the right side of the penalties for a change, which helped enormously. Didn't really get a good look at those "escort" penalties called against the Warriors at the game, but watching the replay, they were pretty soft. Would have been pissed if they went against us. Just helps to highlight how impactful early decisions from a ref can be on setting a tone and momentum for a game.

Keeping errors down to no more than 4 and being on the favourable side of the 6 again counts goes along way to taking out tight games.
