Manly had to overcome a slow start, AND an atrocious DCE who was playing for the Titans.
After DCE horrible game for QLD in game 3 he backs it up with this disaster.
Manly are lucky the Titans collapsed, and a lot of that is because of Foran who kept sprinting towards Manly defence line making sure he could only play short balls which was a disaster for their attack.

Turbo at 70-80% fitness is twice as good as DCE but gets paid a lot less. This club will never be successful while DCE is paid that much which is a waste of money on a mid player that will always cause Manly to be uncompetitive against better teams.

With All Teams 6 Bye Points Added, at the end of Round 20, we are still 5th.

All by myself on the forum so I can yell...

woohoo!

Thankfully a big fat juicy win.

Bit of a shocker start, but came good in the end. what a mess Lehi's eye looked.

Second time this season I've seen tom give a scrum away because of too much sticky goop on his hands. When brother Ben went to scoop up the loose ball and knocked it on (sigh) I was thinking that Tom should give some of the adhesive from his hands to Ben. lol.

Good to see Tent back and it looked like he ran a bit harder than previously - Like Brown has been in his ear.
Daly looked tired - stop kicking on the second tackle - would be nice.

Bullemor seemed to be ripping in as well. Kicked it up a gear over the last couple of games.

Lawton busted his butt marking fifita.

I'm still enjoying having an actual hooker running around. (sorry croker).

A win!!!! woohoo!

TomT is on more than DCE

How do you come in here and vomit all your negatitve thoughts after a win like that? Yes DCE was bad but how good was it to see Brooks take control of the team. So so many positives, but na not for you.

Thought Erin Clark was a standout for the Tits.Ex hooker, moved to a part time middle role at lock last year and thought he was great for them today at prop.
Des has done a good job with him this year.
Des loves a portly middle forward and Erin's been in a great paddock by the looks, great game though.

Watching the game back on Ch9 this time - far better game day sound - crowd noise, miked up ref's comments etc (shame to have to listen to Matt Thompson over the top of it). Eagles were actually pretty good for the first 4 or so minutes until DCE had his triple shocker - forward pass at the 4 minute mark, fell over allowing the Titans long break, following shortly after by the low percentage grubber into the Titans in-goal on an early tackle when he had fast men outside him. Cherry's head definitely not in the game early on (and most of the rest of the game to be honest).

Agreed. Not one of his best. Sebs will give him a nice little rest this week so he comes out firing on Saturday. Then we have a bye. I'm not sure we fully appreciate the toll SOO has on players every year. Especially those in the losing team. Can take a few weeks to recover mentally and physically. He'll come good. Fear not.

Did Daly turn you down for a photo at some point ?

You could at least get some new material when making your posts about him than rehashing your old posts

On the crowd, just love how the Manly crowd are on the ref's case baying for penalties at every tackle the Titans make.

Super game today. A slow start (which we can't afford next week) but thankfully Brooks' try seemed to click us into gear. It was definitely one of his best games for Manly.

Another great crowd and atmosphere at Brookie, and near sell-out...amazing.

Feel sorry for Lehi as he's been playing so well. I'd say his chances of winning Rookie of the Year have somewhat diminished. Let's hope he can recover from his eye socket injury sooner rather than later.

Paseka made an impressive return from injury, Burbo did well to fill in at centre and Lawton covered Haumole's spot with ease.

Next week's game will be on another level and a great test for us.
Right on with the atmosphere at Brookie. I can't remember so many great crowds. It's been sensational all year. And yep, Lawton did a great job. I think he was being a bit harshly treated earlier in the year coz his defence was not appreciated. Now being in his rightful spot on an edge, he's also showing his attacking ability. We will miss him I think.

Manly's Reuben Garrick is also looking at a fine after receiving a Grade 1 Dangerous Contact charge for a raising his forearm in a tackle with Gold Coast's Beau Fermor.. As it is his first offence, he's facing $1000 with an early guilty plea or $1500 if he found guilty at the panel.

Hard to say what caused that below par opening first 25 or so min. not helped with D C E being right off his game but just some basic lack of co ordination all round , particularly defensively and lucky the switch was suddenly turned on somehow ..
Looked to coincide with Brown ,Bully and Paseka being able to inject themselves really well and the Titans then falling away a bit in general but credit where credit is due and Manly to then start playing like a final 's bound side .
Really can not understate Turbo being so much on his game , was terrific yesterday in all facets and naturally to have had some doubts about him regaining a very high form level relatively soon after the long layoff but he has managed it somehow .
Pleasing to see Simpkin putting in a polished effort , some crucial attacking plays by Brooks , Garrick really showing his class . Burbo , some good versatility again .
Some good busy efforts from the forward pack in general .
Really don 't think that it was a case of D C E being jaded physically , just his headspace not in the right place but a composite pro and should [ well certainly hope ] can be right back on his game for the remainder of the season .
Just my take but our best forward Haumole and one of the most effective backs - centre in Koula still to return[ [ and Lehi who would have to be just rated ahead of T T 2 from yesterday ] ' and a relatively healthy roster if they make the finals or even not out of the question - top 4 , just that window of premiership opportunity opening that little bit .
A lot needs to go right but you never know

I think the Titans threw everything at us in the first 20 minutes of the first half hoping to shake us & rack up a big lead (& the first 10 minutes of the second) but couldn’t keep it up.

It coincided with a dusty post-SOO DCE & also caught the rest of the team napping.

Once we’d woken up we settled into our game plan & took control.

Not so long ago that tactic would have worked & we would have been flogged but we’ve definitely got a bit of resilience these days.

Good post. Full credit to the team obviously but got to give some kudos to Seibold and the coaching staff here. Not that long ago, we did not have this ability to take a few hard punches then settle things down, grind and just wait for the opportunity. I thought we did that very well. What about our goal line defence in that 2nd half!!! Now that's Top 4 stuff by any standard.

I think Al, they are just a very fast team and they got off to a flyer. I do miss some things at the game and I'll be watching the replay later today. But they were certainly getting us for numbers out wide on a regular basis and they had a lot of possession in the 1st 20. So it was no surprise they got a lead. But once we got some ball (and frankly, the ref off our back) and as you say, some spark off the bench, we got into a groove. DCE is copping a bit (and there were a few of us in the Stand having a few choice words about DCE kicking on early tackles) but he looked cooked yesterday. He's been very good all year so I can cut him some slack for a very ordinary one yesterday after that SOO game.

We still have a challenging run to the Finals and none of those games can be banked (well, except the bye @:D). Even the West Tigers game coz it's at Leichhardt - do we ever win there?? But if we can keep the same team together (shame about Hoppa) for the home stretch, we could just jag a 4th spot. A bit optimistic maybe but you never know. Of course, any Final spot will do :sweating:

I watched the match live, then a replay this morning. Live, DCE did make some silly choices, kicking early when a pass would have been wiser. He also ran around in circles a few times. I didn't notice all the little effort plays that I caught on replay. DCE didn't play as poorly as it first appeared. He made several vital tackles and was always backing up.
Give this guy a break. He is a champion and is dedicated to our club. I've watched every halfback we've had since the early 60's - and there are many great ones among them - and he is the best.

I saw this too on my 8th replay of the game.
