Watching our players amble back with backs turned for that 20 m tap early in the game, made me think, 'Oh, we are thoroughly screwed today, even schoolboys wouldn't do that, surely! Surely not!'

A mix of inexperienced players, players who have hardly played all year, combined with some flagging morale, and that's a recipe for a decent flogging.
Even so, most of their tries were a direct result of our own poor errors. We gifted them plenty, they didn't return the favour, so we were flogged.
Having said that, we don't lack talent. But we can't finish the year with another shocker like that next week. Not acceptable!

I don’t agree with a lot of criticism thrown DCE’s way (or, more precisely, the weight of criticism), but I expect more from our captain after a loss. I don’t need him to be like Jake, I just don’t want to feel that a bad loss is ‘water off a duck’s back’.

When you consider that our season was already over before the game started, what can you do but laugh and start again next year?

DCE gives his all.
And is a damn good player.

It is bloody fustrating though, as a fan, when you see your players treating the footy as a job, so openly and in your face.

It is 2020 though, not 1980, and times have changed.....it's harder for us older fans to change with it, especially when times are tough.
But thats exactly what it is now. A Job. We as fans need to understand that.

Marty Taupau was just about the only one who got back to offer any sort of resistance. Hopoate gave up after about 10 metres and didn't bother to chase hard. Harper got blown off for pace and Tom was still ambling back from the in-goal.

That was just about as poor as the night at Leichhardt a few years ago when Benji pulled the Worms pants down.

Just back from the game and utterly shattered. For our last home game in a forgettable season, with limited loyal fans doing their best to support them, that was pathetic.

Turbo should never have played and only added to the misery. Can't help wondering if AFB caused much disruption this week.

Such a disheartening afternoon....rant over!

Maybe you are right, and I can’t question his intra-game effort. But after a performance like that, it just doesn’t look good in my eyes.

Fair enough. It all depends on how you see it really. But for mine I don't think Cherry having a laugh meant that he wasn't hurting about another loss.

People deal with things differently. Some laugh, some cry, some get angry.

Smiles? It looked like DCE and Thompson were sorting out a room together at the Travel lodge tonight. You’ve just had 42 points put on you at your home ground. Sure shake hands. Then f@ck off back to the sheds to at least console Tommy and Jake who were shattered. That’s were the captain needed to be.
Perhaps DCE was asking if he wanted to come to the once mighty eagles nest next year? Mate it's ace here. Nice beaches, good blokes, some of the fans go on a bit but other than that its cool.

Sadly true. If you want to see real passionate Rugby League take a walk down to your local oval and watch the young men who represent your suburb every weekend.
Then unfortunately that's who you need to watch then. Every side in the NRL shake hands and have a chat now at the end of most games. In fact players that storm off in a huff are generally derided these days.

Hopoate gave up after about 10 metres
Same with that intercept on his side that Funa and Tom somehow defended, if luckily. Even Tom with his dodgy hammie ran the length of the field in the attempt. Hoppa not so much, not that I blame him for the loss.

For some players, yeah it's just a job.

For others, it's much more than that.

As a fan, I know what I prefer

Storm's highest paid player caught laughing after a Titans flogging at home -

Bellamy - Why the hell are you laughing with the opposition after that crap?
Player - But, Craig, it's only a job. Calm down.
Bellamy - Well, F%$k off and get another job - you're fired. I hear Manly are hiring.

I do. And I enjoy every game: win loose or draw. But after so many years I can’t let go of my Sea Eagle addiction.

Sorry thats BS mate. I've seen storm players hamming it up with opposition players after a loss. There are a lot of mates that play for different sides out there you know.
