Game Day: Manly v Titans [Round 11, 2019]

I’m with the nervous crew about the next couple of games, next week especially with jake out who holds our middle together defensively

I agree Jake is a great player but we have proven to dig in as a team and win without other great players like our captain and leader in DCE , our most dominant forward in AFB , our match winner in Turbo and our dynamic centre in Walker .

We have been depleted all year but we have proven not to break and fall apart like the Titans do

This is what ensures me to keep the faith and believe just like our team does and keeps winning

Not only that but with both DCE and Jake out, who stands up and captains the side?

As a team all players have stood up and play with passion for their jumper . They have shown to run through brick walls for Des

In this years team every player busts his arse playing with the never say die attitude will make the big C proud .

Let's see how close we get to a fairly good outcome this week in regards to getting further ahead of the bottom teams of the top 8

Manly beat Titans and stay in 5th on 14 points, or move to 4th if Cowboys beat Raiders
Cowboys beat Raiders and Raiders stay on 12 points
Roosters beat Knights and Knights stay on 10 points
Souths beat Tigers and Tigers stay on 10 points
Dragons beat the Sharks and Sharks stay on 10 points

In the beginning of the season based on our squad no one gave us a chance of competing for the title

Not even some of our own supporters

The Manly 2019 team typifies the courage , determination and never say die will to win of the legendary rise of the Rocky character

No complacency in Rocky as he was always focused on his mission to win at all costs

We may not have the best players across the park but we do have players with all heart and a never say die attitude and that is why we keep on winning

I love this Manly team . It is so inspiring .

They keep on getting smashed by adversity and keep bouncing up and prevail

As inspiring as any Rocky movie expect our boys are the real deal

Every body has a hero and mine are all the Manly boys that run on to the field and play with pride and passion for their jumper

For some reason this year I get overly excited when our mighty sea eagles play. I have no doubt the boys will put in and make us all proud as usual. There is something I am concerned about, last night with eels and panthers the refs got whistle happy in the ruck. Since the start of the season they seemed a bit more relaxed, it concerns me that last week the boys got a string of penalties against them, I hope these cheating refs don't just bin our boys and are consistent on both sides.

Since we have been advised about official warnings before binning a player for penalties, the refs seemed to up the ante last night, you can see where this is going. The amount of penalties will keep rising to ensure a sin bin, since other NRL teams are unable to beat Manly, lets see if the refs can assist in defeating the team that was suppose to win the spoon in 2019. Manly by 14 (if refs are honest).

What's the saying.. 'cautiously optimistic'?

A lot of us have mentioned the c word 'complacency' and our fear it will seep into Manly this week.

In a way it'll be a good test to see how Des caps those feelings and once again have the team ready for battle. We've also seen a week of positive press for Manly and negative press for the Titans and especially Ash Taylor. Sometimes these things help bring the Titans resolve while making Manly complacent.

Did this happen to Parra last night when after a torrid week Penrith came out and won (somehow).

Titans are low on the ladder, but have some good names. I'll be hoping we cut through them even easier than the proverbial hot knife through butter.

It's fantastic to be looking forward to Manly play again. It's just great. 🙂

Not even me!!

Go Jake go! (from nrl.com a few days ago...dunno if posted elsewhere)

Sironen still struggles with how nice Trbojevic is off the field and how manic he is on it.

"It is weird," Sironen said.

"He’s the nicest guy, but I remember versing him when I was at the Tigers and he’d come and fold you in half, smash you, take the wind out of you and then be whispering in your ear ‘I’m sorry mate’ ... apologising.

..."I’m glad Jake's on our team. When we kick off and the poor front rowers bringing it back are thinking ‘We’re about to get hit’, so they usually run sideways straight at me."

lol.
