Can someone please give a completely reasonable ... and serious ... reason as to why Boyle is a better choice than Sipley?

I'm not sure I can as I really like Tof, but I thought / heard that Boyle was highly regarded and just needed to get over some shoulder injury first year at Manly.

So maybe Des sees some potential higher upside?

I dunno

Happy game day, everyone.

The good attacking teams have got their playmakers a little deeper this year, and their runners have a distinct shape in the lines they run. It looks a lot like what bozo did with manly in the mid 90s.

Des has got manly looking more like a Chris Anderson flat attack team of the early 2000s.

Boyle seems to have become the Manly version of Michael Lichaa. A Des favourite who despite average performances at best, and consistently better performances from others, always seems to get picked regardless (unless injured).

No offence intended to Des, Boyle or anyone ... but the reality is that Boyle is a plodder compared to Sipley.

If they hit the particular stats that Des wants then they are in. Des has too much reliance on stats. From what players and others he has worked with have said - he will try to hit them any way he can.

There are a number of ways to hit stats, not each way will produce the same results in terms of wins, points etc. It appears Des doesn’t consider the contributing factors that make his targeted / best practice stats relevant. People make the same mistake in the corporate world all the time.

I'd rather Des focuses on one particular stat. Wins and losses, personally. But I'm a simple guy.

I doubt there is one, if sip was given as much or half the opportunity boyles been afforded, then I feel confident he would of developed into a valuable member of our front row rotation, why Des sticks with his favourites only Des knows, but it’s not helping our team much, it’s tired and uninspiring stuff, if Boyle has raps on him, get him fit, get him motivated and maybe we might see some of his potential, I’ve seen him hit hard, but not often enough, personally I think he is a very lazy and unmotivated player who needs a bomb put under him, you can’t afford to carry lazy players and we have far too many of them.

I’ve been critical of our game speed and in particular the level of our match fitness, its pretty obvious to most and tonight’s game will expose us big time, we might start well and we should after 3 poor performances, also knowing that if we don’t and the panthers do, that things will get ugly.
our game speed and match fitness is nowhere near satisfactory least of all competitive and the panthers is exemplary, there relentless with their work ethic across the park and this will hurt us big time as the clock ticks on. when As I expect things start to unfold tonight we will see how wide the divide is, then those that don’t think we need a clean out at seasons end, with a view to bringing some game speed into the equation might see how big this part of our problem really is.
Our only hope is that Penrith feel the effects of last weeks game, which I’m sure they will and that they see us as easy beats and take a view to just taking the points knowing they can, unfortunately I think that this too is an old school approach and doubt the panthers think that way, I honestly believe they will come for us, it’s in their DNA they are ruthless, it’s their youthfulness, their hunger, their desire, their fitness, their speed, it’s scary how far advance they are over us, they are so on top of the modern game in every way, all I can say is good luck to our boys and please play with some pride in our colours tonight.

A massacre awaits !!

We might hold them for 10 minutes , even twenty, but that’ll be it!!

Just thinking about our speed v theirs, i think most of there forward pack could leg it with our backline and their backline v ours, well it’s depressing at best.
