The problem for Turbo isn’t to straighten to avoid an up and in Defence, as well coached teams like the dragons realise his first option is to pass. The dragons utilised a slide defence rather than up and in and let him run out of room and starve his outside men of space and time as he delays his pass until he defence is committed which is too late. Hence Kelly going into touch multiple times.

Teams in the past have used an up and in defence on him which forces an early pass, normally in Turbos case the cut out to the winger which has seen him record 7 try assists to only 2 tries.

Turbo needs to look up and play what is in front of him and he would of scored a few last night. If he does straighten if will give his outside men the room and mean defensives can’t slide and will commit early and hence open up the cut out long ball he loves to throw or if they hold off and slide he will have the option to run and with his size and strength he will be tough to stop.
Yup..he's premeditating what he's gonna do. Good call. But he did it a few times. Needs to adapt.

To put it into perspective .... and only because one person wishes to bag the **** out of one player whilst elevating the other to legend status ...... (truth is both are good talents) ...

Kelly missed 6 tackles from 29 attempted .... a high number for a centre by the way .....

If Wright had attempted the same number of tackles his % miss says he would have missed 10 tackles .... 66% more than Kelly ...

Point is neither should be shot at dawn .... but you can't praise Wright and crucify Kelly .... unless you are certified as special that is ...

Blokes having a crack at each other isn't cool. No need - we're here because we love the Manly footy club. And Ive always been impressed with this joint. Normally respectful with a bit of humorous ribbing thrown in - as opposed to other disgraceful footy forums we all know. Lets go back to that eh fellas. Go Manly
Well said mate . No need for keyboard warriors to come out playing at the man and not the ball by directing personal insults . Whats next ? Personal punch ups ?
Now that is not wise .

Bozo, I really enjoyed watching Tom Wright score that try last night but isn't consistency the name of the game before anyone can start using the words Top Gun?
Yes it is and TOP GUN has consistently been doing what you saw all through the grades .

Ironically I think it's Toms desire to get involved in more plays that is hurting his game this year. He seems to be hanging around the play the ball and play makers rather than holding back and winding up when he spots a hole or weakness in defense. Instead he gets the ball flat footed and starts running sideways to find a hole, then the attack gets squashed and flattened and then like we saw last night Tom throws a poor pass to the centre or winger who has already run out of space and options. This was really obvious when watching Turbo and Tedesco in origin; Tom was probably involved more but his runs always made an impact and he was more focused on hitting the week points in the defense than getting involved.
I blame Barret (and the lack of real play making options) as he stated early in the year that he wanted to get Tom more involved in the play making duties - it has confused his game and his role as a fullback to look for opportunities rather than always trying to make them out of nothing.

If you mean consistently being inconsistent then I agree with you. Until you can actually state the games you have watched him in I am convinced your opinions are based on YouTube hype videos and not much else :p. He has the ability to tear the defense apart (when his mind is in the game) but he does not have the kicking game that we desperately need in the halves, has nowhere near the defensive skills required for fullback and it will take time for him to develop defensive and attacking combinations in the backs. That being said I would rather him in the squad for Uate or Parker ASAP.

I personally think Top Guns best position is centre .
Have you seen much of young Anderson ? . He has plenty of speed and they say he would make a great winger . He has been compared to the Storms Josh addo Carr with the speed he posses

I think it is a given that we will see him (Anderson) on the wing for a large part of next year, but unless all of our many outside backs somehow get injured on the way to training I can't see him making the 30 player squad or getting an exemption this year.

Woodsie is spot on about Kelly in my opinion. Kid is gold. He's got speed. His defense in improving exponentially. He's high paced. He plays the ball well. He is rarely injured (touch wood).

Hope.we give the kid a 4 year deal. He HAS the capability of being just as effective and quality as Matai in my opinion (big call, I know).

Last night, we just weren't switched on. Especially defensively. Getting Walker and Tanginoa back will be gold.

I think you are right . Next year will be his year especially with the issues we are having with NRL exemptions .
This year is done unfortunately . Time for Trent to experiment as he has nothing to lose

How many games have we been switched on this year ?

If anyone from the junior ranks is going to be brought into the side this year it'll be Fainu provided that they can get Hastings off to Huddersfield before 30 June. We need a specialist dummy half. Hodko went OK for the most part last night, but he and Matt Wright are only stop gaps at best for the #9.

I do agree about Tom Wright's best position being centre.
