Yes.Agree C and C and I would have sympathy if the coach had picked at least another SPECIALIST option at hooker in the top 30. How can a club go into a gruelling NRL season with one hooker who is tiny and plays tough.And that one hooker has no kicking game! Then again how could a coach have a top 30 at the start of the year with, outside Hastings, ONE bloke who can kick.

No other club would have a team with 2 kickers and one hooker in the entire roster.It was a conscious ludicrous decision by the coach and he should bear the responsibility.

Pretty hard to disagree. Although to be fair, it seems Barrett was painted into a corner by Blake Green. Then our salary cap dramas (not Barrett's fault) stymied our efforts to snare Moylan or Pearce.

If we landed one of those big fish then having Koroisau, Brown & Hastings as hooker options mightn't have looked so poor. But we couldn't, so Barrett in effect gambled everything on an untried 5/8 with a history of knee injuries, and a back up 14/five eighth with a history of behavioural issues.

Both blew up in his face big-time, to be sure, but he may have had little choice. Possibly he could have played hard-ball for a bit longer with Green, but even that is hard to say without knowing the inside story.

This game has the ability to turn Silvertails into Ghost town for a week !!
Manly will come out ok for 20....drop away till half time.
Similar scenario 2nd half.
The scary part is the back 20 minutes in both halves....
Illawarra have a well balanced defensive line with robust defence in the middle third, this has been our only real win relying on AFB and Kapow's big metres.
Once this is not as accommodating as usual, even more responsibility will fall on the halves.
This is not a great thing based on recent performances.

I have a feeling that Walker will be back for this game. We were told 4-6 weeks for his injury and this week is the 4th week of that so its quite possible he could be back for the game. Why not put him at 5/8 where he was playing well before the injury, and with Api out, why not use Hodkinson's passing game from dummy half. Surely his passing is better than Poo, although his defence up the middle would be a big question.

As bad as he was on Saturday, I just can't see Barrett dropping Uate.

Although in saying all that, I think this is the team I think we're going to see run out onto WIN Stadium.....

Brown now has a decent chance to actually string a few NRL games together and maybe win a new contract overseas (if that's what he wants). When he played hooker a couple of weeks ago I thought he stunted our attack by overplaying his hand, darting out from dummy half and making some extravagant play-maker type double pumps and the like. If he keeps it very simple, who knows? He may be able to do a job for us in the middle!

Hodko at hooker for any length of time would be a disaster. When he played with us years ago he was an extremely solid defender for a half so I'm not sure what has happened, but he looks vulnerable and to have him in the middle would be asking to get trampled.
