Game Day: Manly v Broncos [Round 5, 2020]

I've read a lot of people blaming DCE for that play where Jake kicked. But in all reality, who the ball goes to on the last is down to the dummy half. Cherry may have called for the ball, but for whatever reason Levi passed it to Jake who in the end had no option but to either take the tackle and cause a handover or kick and hope for the best.

If one of our players had got to the ball and scored instead of it going dead ... Jake would have looked like a genius. Remember the 2011 Grand Final and Gifty's kick in our own quarter? We ended up going 80 metres to score and Gifty looked like that genius. If it hadn't come off he might have looked like a complete idiot.

For mine that whole play was more that Levi passed it to the wrong player than it was DCE's fault and another poor 5th tackle option from him.

Yeah I agree, it’s something that really needs to be ironed out before we play teams like the Raiders next week who play so cleanly. Although, could we see Lachy Croker start instead? Could be a chance, he was awesome last night

It was only Ch.9 and Broncos fans/players who have been claiming a shoulder charge. None of the Fox commentators thought it was anything but a good try saving tackle. And the picture that @Dan posted proves exactly that.

Makes me wonder if any of the Ch.9 crew had been calling SportsBet at half time and putting money on Brisbane to win.....

It's taken 5 years for people to forget what a real shoulder charge actually looks like.

I was in fact praising young Funa for coming back last night in what was an extremely difficult debut game for him.

The fact that we don’t share the same views on a couple of players doesn’t mean I death ride all of them.

Brad Parker is another I was critical of early , and justifiably so but he’s now an absolute gun.

My views on Paseka are that he’s a bit like Tony Williams , massive , but just like TRex if only he ran a bit harder!!

Anyway lets agree to disagree.

Usually when we complain about penalty counts against us, the reason is that the referee is inconsistent in applying offside penalties and ruck penalties. We get slammed whereas the opposition doesn't.

The penalty count against the Broncos last night however was totally justified as they gave away a lot of stupid penalties that had nothing to do with being offside or infringing in the play the ball. Poor discipline ruined what was actually a great performance from the Broncos side

Further to this, it is a sad day when commentators and league fans start calling any hard tackle a shoulder charge. Tommy jolted the winger with a very hard tackle is all.
