I haven't read through all the comments and well done to those who sat through this without the use of a fast forward button.

Talk about being frustrated for 70 mins of a game.

Started out well enough but when Jake was left to kick on the 5th I thought uh oh. Again, that was the biggest thing for me. All of Des' knowledge, all of the technology, all of the highly paid spine and they still look like Ruben's kicking from the right of the uprights- It's there, but it's going to miss!

I see Seibold has taken a play out of the parra handbook. If a forward has a bloody nose around the 20 minute mark (lodge) then call a dud HIA for a free interchange.

Not sure the last time Taufua dropped a ball that cost us (though he still gets maligned for that) but what was up with this 'superstar' Funa. Why so much trouble under the high one? But it's his first 'first grade' debut (but assuming not the first time catching a ball) and others have said he's a star in the making so I'll look forward to that. Nice he scored on debut as well.

We got all the 50-50's tonight (hooray) and a ton of possession which helps on a five day turnaround.

I'm not sure what Des does. Is he cranky with them for such a ... sub par performance, or does he tell them to rest up, nice to get a win, and knuckle down for the raiders?

Frustrating to watch. Really need the playmakers to step up.
Hope Marty isn't too badly hurt. Forwards did well in his absence. Well done AFB for sure.

Seems like one of our "trolls in eagle feathers" on here is especially butthurt about the win. lol.

It's always interesting to re-watch a game sans emotion. Things can look very different.

Also, while we correctly lauded the crash tackle Turbo and Parker did on Staggs to knock him over the sideline with 1 minute to go, I believe DCE did just as important a play with 2 minutes to go where he knocked the ball down. He unsuccessfully challenged the knock on (to get a breather) but if Milford gets that pass through, there's two unmarked Broncos only a few metres from the sideline.

It raises a good point. If the NRL was so deadset on backing their faves, why did the refs drag us over the line tonight. I’ve never been comfortable with the incessant ref bashing as an excuse for losses. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve lost my **** over calls, and I think refs have been crap for a while (but not exclusively against us, but in general), but we need to get over blaming officialdom for poor games. Win some, lose some, and just hope it ends up 50/50 over time.
Spot on.If the NRL/refs had an agenda,it certainly wouldn’t be a bias towards Manly and especially against the Broncos.

Start of the game. First attacking raid down their end and why is Jake having to kick on the last? A good half knows they own that moment and get a repeat set. A great half knows when up against a team of fragile kids who got smashed to nil last week. They can literally win this game in the first 5 minutes if patient. Enough headless chook. Where was our halfback?

pretty much . Right there was a point where a team could take control, dictate, and be a contender. Instead 2 minutes later, penalty and we are backtracking and clawing on for 40 minutes.

I think manly run the ball on the 5th so often because we have a **** kicking game and its our safest option

Didn't watch the game but obviously sounds like the ref tried his hardest to give us that one. 12-2 penalties in favour of Manly. This never happens. And we only won by 2. We must have really played ****house especially vs that rambles of a team. And to all those Taufua haters i hope you all realize that you are all demented!

Isn’t it hypocritical to whinge like stuck pigs when we are on the wrong end of a bad call but shrug the shoulders when the calls go our way?
I said this last week, I bet there will be no complaints ir stupid demands of results being overturned if we got the rib of the green this week and won a fight ind
But I guarZntee this, next week if manly get some calls go against them in Rd 6 the same fools will be calling it an NRL conspiracy or the game is fixed or blah blah blah, honestly no wonder manly fans have the reputation they have when sone can be so hypocritical in the space of 8 days I just find it staggering tbh
NO, not at all! This is s manly forum where only one eyed view points are shared and discussed. This is not a balanced utopia it’s a narrow minded dictatorship. We are always robbed and never get a fair go from the refs and anybody else for that matter! If you don’t like it leave!

ps: just joking buddy

I had this feeling as well ... Did the Broncs even get the ball in the second half?
My mate is a diehard Broncs fan and said they couldn’t contain us through the middle in the second and the penalties were warranted. It was the only way they could slow us down. The count was lopsided for good reason. It is clear to all the Broncs are having major issues with these new rules and tonight a way to manage it was to infringe. I concede the pen at the end to give us 2 could have been a play it again but like last week, sometimes calls don’t go your way. #refsarehumantoo

Frustrating i st half in so many ways for Manly but pretty good effort to turn things around and showing enough patience and experience to play much more constructive footy in the 2 nd half and to gradually get on top . Broncs have some good individual players and with some added vigor and pressure last kick options , initially and certainly caused some problems . All praise to A F B and Turbo , Keppie and Paseka did well on yardage gain , really have to get Levi to be a bit smarter around the ruck area what a mighty motor Jake has . Few favorable calls in the 2 nd half but again , still good enough to finally get the win .

Just for all the Broncos saying this was a shoulder charge.......it wasn't

We needed luck after a lackluster first 35 minutes. What concerns me is that occasionally we look clinical in the opposition red zone and put on points but that happens far too infrequently. We were awful with the footy in their red zone in the first 30 minutes and particularly the first few minutes when we had a few sets in their 22. We looked flat and disorganized and we need the ball going to DCE and Walker on the last tackle not to Jake. Gutsy win but we really made it hard on ourselves and we cant afford to do that against the likes of Canberra and the Rorters. Very valuable 2 points well done boys!

A very good reason for that penalty count.

When we started coming back the Donkeys didn’t know what to do so in trying to slow the game down you could have called a penalty at almost every tackle , yes they were woeful.

Out in NRL land they are saying we were gifted the game as a payback for last week.

Thats bull**** , the Donkeys had all the running in the first half due to a lackadaisical performance from our team , when they turned up in the second half the Donkeys had nothing ( other than Infringements to try and slow us down ).

The penalty count was justifiable in my opinion.

I think too, that the penalty Klein gave us for the ball strip after he called held was down to Brisbane's repeated ruck infringements (many questioned the penalty when on other occasions they usually just play the ball & continue, much like an offload after the call).

You do have to admit though a 12-2 penalty count TO Manly is highly unusual.

But as I say above there’s a reason for that .

I'm quite happy with that penalty to win the game. The broncs had been trying to slow manly down for about 10 minutes, and the bloke stealing the ball after held was called was yet another time-wasting tactic. In the context of the previous time wasting a penalty was justified.

Manly is known for slow starts to the season. This year the competition has started twice, but we are still three wins from five games - same as last year :)

In the last couple of weeks , our game has lacked cohesion/organization. I think this is due in part to our dummy half play - we no longer have the luxury of rotating two of the best hookers in the competition! Hopefully, the team will improve in this aspect as the season continues.

I agree with the poster who suggested that if Suli is out next game, Walker should return to the centres, with Croker at five-eighth & Schuster on the bench. This would be an excellent way to blood Schuster - he could cover a few positions. It would be good to see Walker back at right centre where he is a real strike weapon.

Ultimately, (maybe next season), I can see Manly's strongest team being Schuster at five eighth, Walker right centre, Suli left centre & Parker left edge (I think he has more to offer there than either Waddell or Jack). Wingers would be Garrick on the right & whoever is performing best on the left.

people still going off about turbos tackle on twitter and foxsports, not even close to a shoulder, both arms are wrapped. I think in the grainy footage the white triangle on the sides of the manly jersey make it look like his arm is tucked when it is completely outstretched

They must have placed bets on the Donkeys at the $4 prices I saw and watched that slip away.
