Manly - Top 8

A win would be good, would take us to 29 after the bye meaning we’d only need to win one or two games to make the 8, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves here. It’s a tough comp and a lot of teams are still in the race to make the 8 and every win/loss is crucial to each of those teams.

Beat the Rorters and into position 4

Who’Da thought ????
Doesn't Guacca's Suncorp involvement take on so much greater importance now? I'd suggest, had he been available against Easts we'd have been an even money bet. I'm not ruling out an upset win, but Easts are far more formidable than our last two opponents.

Very much so , and away from home as well

Manly are currently on 25 points with 7 rounds (6 games plus one bye) to go.

The 2023 season (24 games plus 3 byes) needed 32 points to get into the Top 8.

In effect Manly need to win 3 of remaining six games to get to 33 points.
vs Roosters (a), vs Raiders (a), vs Warriors (h), vs Wests (a), vs Dogs (a), vs Sharks (h).

2023
1 Penrith Panthers 42
2 Brisbane Broncos 42
3 Melbourne Storm 38
4 New Zealand Warriors 38
5 Newcastle Knights 35
6 Cronulla Sharks 34
7 Sydney Roosters 32
8 Canberra Raiders 32
9 South Sydney Rabbitohs 30
10 Parramatta Eels 30
11 North Qld Cowboys 30
12 Manly Sea Eagles 29

Every single one of those games is winnable. Love to finish on 37-39 points (sufficient to be top 4) - get a home semi, and a second bite on a worst case scenario.

Top 8 is in our hands

Bye
Raiders away
Warrior's home
Tigers away
Bulldogs away
Sharks home

Apart from raiders game we don't leave Sydney again this season before finals if we make it and play away

1-2 wins won't see us playing footy 11th place finish on nrl.com ladder predictor
3 wins I can see us about 7th or 8th finish might get 6th strong f/a
4 or 5 wins home final 5th/6th finish

We will determine our final chances

Winning the previous 3 games was crucial cause the Roosters match was always a chance of going the way it did.

The same form over the past month will win us our next 3 games. After that, we will get a big say in how the bottom of the top 4 plays out with games against the Bulldogs and Sharks to finish

5 wins to finish would open up the possibility to take the Sharks top 4 spot. Getting a win over the Bulldogs amongst those 5 wins will put us back above them

Being 'proud' about 'brave' efforts, when so many competition points have been let slide.

Yeah, it’s a double-edged sword. It’s great that we aren’t getting blown off the park and we are in all these games… but, also shows we are struggling to snatch close games. Reminds me of the Raiders a couple of seasons back.

We are proud to be Manly people but we are not proud to lose
We are proud of our legendary clubs Great Premiership winning reign
And this is what we should be proudly wanting to emulate again
Losing is not what proudly made Manly Great
Winning is what proudly made Manly Great
Get it right Anthony Seibold !

Benji Marshal was quoted saying how proud he was of his team after their consecutive defeat against the warriors that proudly has them at odds for another proud consecutive wooden spoon

It seems that some New age coaches who can not inspire their team to a resilient win
now seem to proudly endorse a tragic loss
These people are Happy losers and proud in defeat

Show me a good loser and I will show you a loser

Better than getting completely toweled up which is what would have happened in prior seasons. A few more pieces of luck with BS ref calls, injuries and suspensions, and we could have won 5 or 6 of those games. We have improved out of sight compared to even last year.
