Sharks roosters have easy draws

I think if dogs beat raiders on Sunday it will be very hard for us to miss finals footy from here.

Think top 4 out of reach now

Our goal get 5th or 6th home final week 1
Then hopefully play a Sydney team week 2 finals

We would have to totally screw it up from here not to make finals footy

I miss 2008... We were humming along in first place at this time of the year, finished equal first on points (second on F/A), and gave a nice smack to every team we met in the finals.

Much easier time to be a Manly fan!

We at least look like being healthier than in previous years but who doesn't grimace every time Turbo takes a run. We should at least get to 33 points which may sneak us in but if we seriously want to go deep into finals we have to win all 5 for top 4. Possible but our away record has been abysmal.

We sailed near the top, lucky to finish with 3 easy games. But......

The Roosters put 34 (to12) on us on 27 July and Souths (who finished 14th) put 40 on us on 17 August.

I knew we were in deep trouble after the Souths game in round 23. I reckon we were 100-1 about winning anything at full time in this game.

We won 6 straight and demolished every team we played from that point on, as the games got harder we won won easier.

This comp is such a spin the arrow lottery with games won by referees, bunker, HIA and luck, rather than being the best footy team.

I can see Manly from 5th or 6th home semi winning that game and two more to reach the grand final. None of the top 4 are unbeatable by Manly.

Dolphins v Broncos in Round 26 should decide 8th spot, unless either of those totally implodes before then.

Dogs form will also come into it as they will play several of the fringe teams on the run home.

Raiders are kaput if they don't beat the Dogs tomorrow (and they are longshots to do that) and have a very tough draw, so good luck. Dragons and Knights have some winnable games but, like the Raiders, both have terrible f/a which will probably be a fair bit worse by tomorrow. None of these 3 will make it (I predict).

Manly will make the 8, our last 2 games v dogs and Sharks will decide how high we get (on the ladder, not intoxication)@:D

Should make the 8 or will make the 8 or we can’t stuff it up from here is stupid talk. What are we trying to manifest a finals spot? I hope the players and Seibold aren’t thinking like this. Get that finals spot out of your heads, we haven’t made **** and we aren’t guaranteed ****. The NRL are always looking for a way to screw us and they’d love nothing more than any of the other teams making the 8 ahead of us.

Focus on Canberra, we win that we are almost there. If we lose we’re back with the rat pack and under huge pressure.

Let’s all have a chew!
We win games we will make top 4. What’s in front of us is very manageable. I see us dropping maybe only one game. Best case we come in 4th, worst case 5th or 6th. Anything less is unacceptable.

Don’t count your chickens yet. We need to focus on each game we aren’t there yet.
Couldn't agree more, TE. No matter the opposition, we're just as likely to go on a losing streak as we are a winning streak. And there are other teams just below us on the ladder who are desperate for points as well.

It's all in our hands from here, which - to use a Jake-ism - is nice, and we should do it. But that doesn't guarantee we will.

How many internationals and SOO players did we have in that team?

I don't see how the broncos can make the 8 now, they're done. I have the dragons in the 8, knights will miss out, manly 5th but we'll see.

I think whatever glimmer of wishful thinking we had for the top 4 disappeared tonight well and truly. We’ll fight it out for a decent position in the bottom part of the 8… or even slide out the back with a good self-sabotaging effort.

Haas out for 4 to 5 wks and Mam you'd think at least 2 wks, there're cooked anyway. Not even sympathetic recommendations from the Broncs old boys can save Kevvie now.

Lol you're right! It didn't occur to me the Broncs would totally implode within hours of my post.
Loving the Titans form, they can do Manly a big favour by beating the Sharks next week.
Dragons also starting to look like a tough match for Sharks.

Dragons dogs next Saturday should be a classic good old grudge match with much on the line for both clubs

We could definitely benefit from some of the teams who are out of finals contention punching above their weight to take some points off the teams who are challenging alongside us. It will help to make up for all the winnable games that we've lost. It's a shame that the loss to the roosters last week has probably knocked us out of top 4 contention so I guess we just need to go all out for 5th or 6th.

Looking back over the last decade , except 2020 covid of course , 8 losses is the most you can have for a top 4 finish. So we'll have to win all 5 to get into top 4 which I doubt we can with 3 away games. Dogs and Raiders away will both be very difficult.
