It did seem like a bit of a flighty signing at the time. I think Des was probably in negotiations with Lawton before our terrible start.

Just wondered what the Go was when he came on and just assumed wrongly that he was just a specialist 9 . Maybe a bit of a gamble but what a terrific effort , crucial try , excellent involvement and with him out of the game for an extended period , even more commendable . Many great outcomes and highlights for Manly and certainly including Lawton 's effort

He was superb as well. Tough unit and didn't shirk the heavy work at all. Will be interesting to see him stay healthy and see what he can do over the next month.

In a way, yes, AFB put the Warriors in precarious position with the salary cap, especially after snaring Reece Walsh as well, so they had to offload Lawton with them basically paying most of his contract for this year

One minute this bloke is a mystery shadow in our rehab group, suddenly he is starting in the second row. Will be great to see how he backs up after his impressive debut for us.
With no lower grades last year our depth couldn't develop, suddenly we now have some depth and competition for spots, that is a massive boost.
