Manly Sea Eagles: Does the club need to relocate?

Unfortunately any relocation would incorporate a name change.

Ultimately the best thing would be to broaden our area and take the Central Coast under our banner. With the Blacktown area and the Central Coast that would make a pretty tidy nursery. The downside to that is that the obvious name would be the Northern Sea Eagles or similar. Divide the games between Brookvale, The Central Coast and the SFS for the big ones.

This is more than likely what will happen , a token “ retro” game at Brookvale, bigger games at the SFS and the rest at Gosford.

They won’t relocate to Perth or Brisbane.

And you’ll find they dissolve the Football Club ( or cease to give it any relevance) and drop the Manly name , probably calling us “ Northern Sea Eagles” , although I’d say same colours and emblem!

Think more along the lines of the Wests Tigers model. They do about 5 games at Leichardt and the place is packed.

Yep, Peters dissing the home ground without much restraint is part of the ‘plant the seed’ phase.

However, I’d also like to think of it as putting pressure on govt/Council though it certainly didn’t come across like that in any way.

And the fans/punters were dissed too for even questioning the actions of the Penn family. Peters is a true toady toad.

Manly need to grow up and get some sustainable income streams. A renovated brookie would allow more corporate but they need a much grander plan other than just "cap in hand" year after year"
As they own jack **** they have no base to start from. Until or if they, ever get the act together and start planning for a sustainable future there arse will always be on the line.
They need investors that are in it for the long term good of the team. Hell they could start with a go fund me page and a couple of smart ideas from the footy club. People want to help manly but not necessarily the ownership model .
Plenty of people have plenty to give and its not always about coin. Manly have never been a great club at harnessing the untapped resources that are the fans with either wallet, time and ideas.

Peter Peters might think that the main reason the crowd numbers are down at Brookvale Oval is because of the poor quality of the ground facilities but in my opinion he is mistaken. Whilst he is forced to recognize that the fans are important and that the club needs supporters at games he fails to acknowledge and recognize that the fans maybe voting with their feet. Who's going to come and spend their hard earned watching a disorganized, poorly coached side get beaten most of the time. 5 wins from 19 starts is diabolical. This on the back of the poor handling of the departures of our heroes Glen Stewart, Brett Stewart, Steve Matai, the crucifixion of our champion Geoff Toovey, Gladstone gate and the poor treatment of Hastings. The message gentlemen is that Manly supporters are not sausage roll eating dummies that don't know managerial and coaching incompetence when they see it. I appreciate the money injected by the Penn's but I don't appreciate the crap that has been going on within our once great club over the last 5 years or so. Quite frankly it has been embarrassing. Dinosaurs need to move on and be replaced with people that have real management skills and no personal agendas. When a CEO feels dis-empowered and leaves that says volumes about the magnitude of the problems within. Forget about the state of ground and focus on the state of the organisation.

The local council would be more interested in letting it rot and when the club has moved or is dead, working to stick a bunch of units on it.

If you're going to shift the team and redevelop something on the beaches, you do it at Rat Park and start from scratch. More space, it is a much nicer area (Grass! Wetlands! A caravan park for people from Penrith!) It's also better for transport as you can access from Mona Vale/Powderworks or straight south from Pittwatter (and can have parking on the grounds behind it), and totally unrelated to all this is that it is walking distance from my place.

i hate to admit it but regarding supporting your team no matter what the nights have it all over manly.
it doesn't matter how bad they were going there would always be a decent crowd turn up to each home game - even before the stadium rebuild.
i know I'm guilty of not going to the games even though i am a ticketed member due to work, but as for others i can only guess

I read on here recently that Abbott’s promised money was on the proviso that it be spent towards a new hill stand.

Would have been better off allocated to the ground in general. We could have had some decent improvements up and running by now (back of stand facilities, the wooden benches replaced with seats etc) irrespective of the Penns’ ‘make a wishlist’.

Whole if Brookvale is all units on the west side of Pittwater Road.

Past DA concepts for Brookie all feature a huge residential/commercial use building opening onto the southside of the field

Now that DY has an 18 storey monstrosity, the Brookie site could be as tall

The club is failing because they don’t care from the management down. The Penns have no passion for the club only what money they can make from them.

Clearly not performing on the field and got rid of a coach who was the passion and backbone behind Manly.

They have taken away the culture of the club and let it become a toxic environment.

Some Players have no respect for people who mentor them and this vibe is being given off every weekend.

Manly were getting flogged one year several weeks in a row and Max wrote the players a letter each of why they should win. That week against St George they went on to win 13+. I think it’s funny how Max can help a club perform better by writing a personal letter to all players. That would never be done now.

Max also was asked numerous times to rev the players up and this created a solid foundation and respect from all involved in the club from the owner, to the players, the coach and even the ground announcer which in turn created an environment everyone was happy to be involved in.

That environment no longer exists at Brookvale.

The Penn’s and Peters are responsible for causing this clubs demise.

They got rid of a premiership winning coach, a premiership winning assistant coach, a pumped up ground announcer, the Eagles angels and all the other entities that made Manly successful in the 2002-2010 period.

Let’s put a fact straight. Zorba has mentioned that Penn’s were in charge from 2007. That is a downright lie in 2007 Delmege was co-owner as well as major sponsor and had a much larger input then the Penn’s who just sat in corporate boxes waffling on about the amount of money they had.

Max doesn’t want any fan fare about his involvement all he wants is the truth to be known and gets very annoyed when Zorbas mates at the Telegraph write so much rubbish and down right lies that they know are not the true facts.

Max’s involvement with the club was brought about by his respect for the passionate supporters who deserve respect, a winning team and ultimately the jubilence of another grand final win. I honestly believe this will not be the case for a long time!

The atmosphere at Brooky when it has a good crowd is phenomenal.

It’s great to have @Mrs D and in turn the great Max Delmege on our forum.

I invited Sam to join but honestly wasn’t sure she would.

Great to get another inside perspective AND also let’s face it for us Manly fans Max is a living legend , without him I’m not sure who or even if we’d be supporting these days.

I know for me if they were to fold I’d be done, there’s no way in hell I’d suddenly become a Donkey ( that’s our terminology for a Bronco , Sam).
