Manly players back under-pressure Barrett

I think it's 6 ain't it? Hasler started off his career with a win before losing 6 and then notching up fantastic wins over our bogey side SGI and then a smashing of NZ in EnZed
Your right , My apologies
round 2 Souths 42 Manly 20
round 3 Sharks 28 Manly 20
round 4 Warriors 28 Manly 10
round 5 Dogs 28 Manly 26
round 6 Parra 32 Manly 26
round 7 Tigers 30 Manly 22

The problem is hidden somewhere within this article
Personally think DCE is a talented footy player who is the victim of over exposure and unrealistic expectations
Seems a nice bloke....lacking that win at all cost mentality and unable to lift his mates with a game on the line
Of course he will stand by his coach and always say "the right thing"
Barrett - also a decent bloke
Always satisfied with his team....even if they have been beaten by 40 points....given up a massive lead....played with zero intensity...ect
All have each other's back - the players are happy because there seems no consequence for poor performance, while the coach seems happy the players are behind him, because he is - nice to them....
I want the coach to address the poor attitude and the players to realise they are way off the pace...the coach to stop making friends and get brutally honest so the players have ownership....we are the only team that looks happy after every loss...apart from 2 young brothers that carry the team.

Talk of Trent Barrett being under pressure after two consecutive Manly losses to start the season is "comical", according to captain Daly Cherry-Evans.

The Sea Eagles have lost their first two home games against Parramatta and South Sydney, and are 15th on the ladder with only a slightly better for-and-against than Canberra.

Barrett is contracted to the end of 2018, having signed a three-year deal when he began at the club last year, but Manly's disappointing start has already fuelled suggestions the mentor could be under fire.

However, Cherry-Evans thought the talk was ridiculous.

"I find it pretty comical," Cherry-Evans said on Monday.

"I know it's someone's job on the line but it's outrageous to think that it's even a possibility after two rounds.

"He's got my support."

Manly have lost their past seven games, in a streak that dates back to August 2016, and have also dropped 11 of their past 14 at their home of Lottoland.

If they lose to North Queensland on Saturday night in Townsville they will equal the club record of eight successive defeats.

They'll go into the match without four of their regular forwards in Darcy Lussick, Martin Taupau, Addin Fonua-Blake and Lloyd Perrett.

The Sea Eagles are also hamstrung by the medical retirements of Brett Stewart and Steve Matai still remaining before the NRL, meaning they cannot replace them in this year's salary cap.

But Cherry-Evans has an idea of how to silence those critical of not just his side, but their coach Barrett.

"It's not going to go away because I ask it to," Cherry-Evans said.
I glad the chimp thinks it comical, what a way to approach a serious concern, maybe I should use this analogy with my boss.

And so it starts.

The players have publicly stated their support for the coach. Within a month the club board will them come out and tell the media the same thing.

And we all know what happens withing a couple of weeks of that.......

What you want him to do that in public? Do yourself a favour next time we lose stand outside the sheds and listen

I saw DCE in his interview and he is correct that it is premature to judge this team after 2 rounds and his form seriously needs to pick up and lead the team out of this rut.

I think the coach has 8 rounds to get this right and then we will know more. If we have say only 1 or 2 wins by then and it is obvious we will struggle to make the finals, the club will have to make a call.

I do feel for TB cause I believe he is coaching with one hand tied behind his back over the NRL stance over Snake and Skivvy and our inability to replace them because of the current stalemate between the club and NRL.

I hope that TB can get some wins. Our draw for the next 8 weeks is challenging so the acid is on him to turn it around.

This is the bit that's truly outrageous @

NRL Player welfare is being ignored by forcing a Club to play with a pool of only 23, when other Clubs have 25 :!!:

The only thing that is comical is watching an arrogant and smug Cherry mock any criticism that may come the clubs way after two diabolical efforts and on the back of last years disaster.

There is no humility or substance in DCE, just ego and self interest; which are not quality's you want in a captain.

I can't for the life of me understand the logic in this supposed NRL policy. The rationale escapes me. Surely there is some legal grounds to challenge what is effectively anti-competition. We have two players who no one argues should not be medically retired - what is the logic that prevents us from replacing them? What happens in other major sports around the world - NFL etc? I cant believe they are this mickey mouse.
Especially now that that Knights player is suing their Club.
Does Greenturd want to expose Clubs to unfair work practice, OH&S cases ? @

Forcing Snake and Matai into a Club's sports rehab program instead of a care program by independent doctors is dangerous 😡

Yep. It was in that statement "I find it comical".
It doesn't occur to him that this makes him look like a complete dope?
And, having stated how amazed he is that coaches are held accountable , he goes on to say that that won't stop him wanting to be a coach one day.
Really? He can't even steer his side around the paddock.
I guess $1 million a year will keep you happily in la la land.
