Manly Match-Fixing Investigation

Jeez I feel for Toovey. He spent the better part of a year being gutter stomped by our club. He did nothing but hold his head high and do what was right for the organisation kicking him in the teeth, right to the bitter end.

And now, after he's been treated like absolute ****, he still sits there on television, head held high for the club and defends it while others sit silent. He does more in this current situation to play down the allegations than any single soul currently in our club.

Good on you tooves, you're a legend. The whole organisation could take a few leaves out of your book mate, as sour as that would taste for them.

Tooves is just like us fans. This proud clubs legacy was created well before the **** that currently controls it.

Manly are poised to appoint former NSW chief racing steward Ray Murrihy as a consultant after the club was embroiled in match fixing allegations.

The Sea Eagles have been in negotiations with Murrihy, who has retired from racing after overseeing integrity issues on NSW tracks for the past 21 years, about a role at the club. Murrihy will be tasked with ensuring there is an appropriate code of conduct and that proper protocols exist to ensure players and officials aren't compromised by their associations with those outside the Sea Eagles.

“With the Parramatta game, you would think they were on non-performance enhancing drugs – both sides, it was a terrible game of football,”

"Non performance enhancing drugs" lol love the 2v!!

The parramatta game was like watching someone slowly drown. The only suspicious thing I suspected from that game was the try manly conceded in the first minute of the second half. A simple dummy half run and the defense evaporated. That play cost manly the game as chasing points in the wet was extremely hard and the performance got worse the longer the game went. I left that game really dissapointed as it really killed of our finals hopes.

I had a feeling it had to be something like match fixing it couldn't have been our form.Thrashing the broncos then losing to parra didn't make sense.
Huge turnarounds from one week to the next, is nothing new.

By the logic you offer, perhaps the Broncos should be investigated for their below-par performance against us?

Silly questions perhaps, but why is this a Manly problem if the club didn't actively take part in the alleged "fixing", and the people that allegedly did so, are no longer part of our orginisation?

Shouldn't we be getting high praise for ridding ourselves of undesirables?

And we know who was the main culprit was in missing the tackle close to the line

We pumped Broncs and Souths, then struggled to a last gasp win against Raiders before the Eels. So formline wasn't impeccable leading into Round 24.

For the life of me, I can't get interested in this crap. Anyone that knows anything about footy could spend two minutes investigating these claims of suspicious poor form, view match footage, and explore the non related inner dramas we had last year regarding threats of/and player clear outs, coaches not knowing if their jobs were safe, players not so secretly signing for other clubs and back flipping all over the place. The place was a zoo. I'm surprised we finished as high up the ladder as we did.

Any entity that is prepared to waste their time and resources investigating this should themselves be investigated. Perhaps they are simply trying to use up the last of their budgets before June 30.

In closing, if we do incur any penalties or fines for this ridiculous witch hunt, I think we should go double or nothing!

I shan't be posting here again. You are all safe from any future folly.

In this thread at least. @:p

He had a cracking run in the first half for a try, the only spark I saw the whole game (I was there) ... it's hard to blame it all on him
That try was ultra soft. First minute of the second half. In a game of mediocrity it stood out. Correct the player you mention did create the teams first try that day.

Maybe the game is really like wrestling and they know who is going to win the comp before the season starts. Maybe its all show and all the games are fixed....Gee I love a good conspiracy.

The parra game was disgusting but the other game I thought was worse was the Canberra game at Albury.

Tooves looked so forlorn in the coaches box. I know I felt it was the worst display I had seen from a Manly team in all my time supporting them...since the mid 70's.

I knew a couple of those guys just couldn't give a rats & we're out to get rid of Tooves. Maybe they should investigate that one for some betting activity. I couldn't believe what I was seeing on tv.

You could tell by the look on his face that things were bad.

How much of that was players looking to sideways at their teammates and not feeling the bloke next to them was putting in? If you feel like you're doing 5/8ths of the job of the player by your side, why wouldn't it take it out of your own performance?

Toddy is gunna need moar hair if he wants to be like Vince lol 😉

What about the left upright getting in the way when we were certain to score!
Now I think of it the padding looked uncharactaristicly suss, standing around all day doing bugger all then bam, stops a certain try.

If memory serves me correctly the Broncos were smashed in from $1.80 into $1.40 before the eels Broncos game round 1.
The next day the eels star recruit pulled out with a sore hammy ....
I love coincidence when money is involved
