Id like to see Manly on the charm offensive, waking down the beaches handing out footies and scarves or whatever merch to peninsular faithful. Going to schools, hospitals etc. You know, build brand loyalty stuff.

Agreed; unless they are irrelevant, in which case they can get stuffed.

I'm not a big conspiracy theorist; however, the club are not acting like a club that values it's members, wants to give a voice to their members, or genuinely understands how to connect to their fan base in the modern age.

An unfortunate 1st post.

Hi to all the Manly supporters - that makes you decent in by book. I've got a slightly different view on all of this.

Born & bred in Newcastle but I have been a Manly supporter since the 1970's. I've been to many games, Grand Finals and played for years myself. After witnessing the 2013 Grand Final, I am of the firm belief that matches are fixed in the NRL and not by players. I gave up watching Footy but still support Manly because I don't blame them.

If any of this current situation were true, I still wouldn't blame the players. If I thought I was playing in a rigged competition, I might be looking for other incentives too as selfish as that is. Their careers are short. I'm not saying it is right.

The origins of any of this start with $$ being involved. It's a business right?

I really feel sorry for the fans, the players and the clubs.

I get your point but is it more advantage to play winning football with a clear mind & maybe again be supported after your career by becoming involved in media, training, motivational speaker ect .... just morally unacceptable when you consider all the fans who have made the effort to support Manly through good & bad, the long term fans & the kids who see them as hero's....

Lots of posts here - might have missed the answers to the questions I'm posing. If so, sorry!
Q1 Who broke the news Heyson or a Jockey?
Q2 If so, why? Motive?

My wife's father was once a senior cop. amongst the things I learned from him was that they only release the things that they want to release. They do know more that we think. Part of their strategy might be to see how certain people react.

Get people talking on tapped phones :eyes:

I haven't posted here since after the Albury match last year . At the time I wrote about players partying at the hotel after the loss to Canberra. I was ridiculed by some on here for either lying or having some sort of agenda.
As a life long Manly fan I have never seen a season like 2015 for a variety of reasons .
Certain players seemed '"disinterested " , that's just a buzz word for not trying .
If it is true that some colourful identity linked to players tried to place anywhere near 1 million dollars on a match then you can be certain that some sort of fix was in . NRL endorsed gambling has become so entrenched in rugby league - is anyone really surprised that current and ex players who are known gamblers might be tempted to bet on a sure thing ? The toxic atmosphere at manly in 2015 would have sure made it easier to give in to temptation . I have no inside knowledge on these allegations but I have looked at the stats and it seems rather coincidental that the games in question have us playing so badly considering the money wagered for a manly loss .

I remember your post mate, and I didn't ridicule you, it seemed very strange at the time.

Can we please not become victim-like Parra supporters in this
"The media hates us. This wouldn't happen if it wasn't Manly. Blah. Blah. Blah"
Part of me being a Manly supporter is an expectation that I support the best.
To my mind, two of our senior players did not seem to be trying too hard on a great many occasions last year. Was it a dummy spit at actions by the coach or were they on the take?
I don't care. Both positions are equally bad and disrespectful to the Manly jersey and culture that goes back a long way before their arrival.
And it is for this reason, that the club, our club, my club, should have made some statement by now outlining how they will not tolerate any attempts at match fixing and are giving the police full cooperation in this investigation.
I am so close to being over this present bunch.

Don't worry @susan has been calling for their heads for a few years now , you are just late joining in!!

This has to be us against Brisbane right? (source: Lurker)

No wonder one under-performing Sydney club played poorly at a recent away game on the road.

Four of their star players were spotted at the local casino on the night before the game.

They didn’t get home until the wee small hours of match day - and played badly as a result - as you would expect.

Club management is aware of the players involved and at least one will not be there next year - partly on form but also partly because of his unprofessional attitude.

The others have been read the riot act.

Welcome aboard mate, may be the 1st but don't let it be the last!!

And to think I paid good money for 4 seats to witness this, would have to be us as we were just terrible on the night ( not that I expected a win but I did expect effort).

If true , another nail in the coffin.

I understand what you're saying LD, but the fact they want to get a reaction tells me they don't have any solid evidence. The fact that the club has not even been approached, let alone charges laid, tells me they're a long way from having enough evidence for a conviction. Don't get me wrong, if anyone is guilty, whoever they may be, I want them gone from the club and the sport for life. It just seems that going public before any charges are laid seems like last resort to me.

Could also be the bunnies or the dragons..

Some are talking money trails here, TBH it's doubtful there'd be one for such a small amount, it would all be cash, which the people in question would easily blow on bets , fancy dinners, alcohol, drugs.
