Like him or loath him, the Penn family has contributed financially to the existence of this club.
If any of our keyboard warrior Manly fans in here have enough money to buy and then support the club then go ahead, pay up and run it as you like. If you don't, shut up!
Yes, we are not performing well and sure we have had better times, but to go for the guy who is reaching into his own pocket to keep our club afloat and to give us something to hold onto then it speaks volumes of how immature we the so called supporters are.

For me, if we are going to be wallowing in mediocrity for the foreseeable future, I would prefer us to just fold and get it over with. I will be ok with that...and Lindsay, I will not shut up just because a keyboard warrior like you told me to. Who the hell do you think you are?

Yeah, I agree with the sentiment. I think everyone here would despise the idea of wallowing in mediocrity.
Even if we were to pack up the folding card table and leave the NRL, I would hope we continued to exist as a local club, and get back to roots and community.

I think why they vent anger is because yes the penns own manly but dont dig deep financially where other parties with alot more money have tried numerous times to buy the penns out but the penns arent interested..so we are stuck with the penns and their minimal spending to say the middle eastern firm who would spend large
It's not even digging deep. I know all the sombrero stuff (at least he's bothered to think about a sombrero) but at least Uncle Nick will go do everything he can to have that winning football team. I read where he's set up a trust which he's constantly overseeing investments for, just to secure the future of the Roosters. Meanwhile, our bloke moves to NYC.

On the plus side he wants to keep the club in the district where others may move it to Perth or somewhere if offered a carrot.
While still very rich he isn't an Uncle Nick who is many times richer and can afford to splash more money around.

The club website says Cust is a halfback. So we have a halfback playing hooker (not that there's anything wrong with that, except that he's not very good at it)

Agree! you like anyone can say what they like. No one should try to shut this down. From my perspective I don’t see much utility on going on war path when my team is losing. It in reality makes little to no difference whatsoever but only raises my blood pressure. ( each to their own) I find it amusing when people say we should not put up with this mediocrity when all they can really do is stop watching the team play. ( spend no money) and spit the dummy. Sure if enough people do this it will certainly make a difference but I am sure supporters from other teams will remain interested as they will enjoy watching their respective team beat us. As I have said all along the club will come out of the other side of this . I understand not everyone shares this optimism.

Only a moot point but the Penns would have coughed up a fair bit of coin in legal fees to try to fight and try overturn that appalling witch hunt by Greenberg into that very marginal T P A issue and dubious breach a few years ago . Could only contend that they had the best interests of the club in that instance . Manly 's successful junior pathways system must be receiving some reasonable fiances from them also to be getting some good outcomes . Very disappointed the way the Eagle angels were treated but really do not know the full story . Again have to take into account that the Penns would only receive the percentage of the franchise that they currently hold , something like 67 % . Anyway personally could not care who had the majority ownership , as long as they had a genuine and serious commitment to contribute to any regular short falls in operating costs , which are only going to be most likely even more pronounced this season . Maybe there are better options out there but could also be a case of be careful what you wish for .

I was getting concerned that the owner of the club wasnt fronting the media. He has weighed in and said his piece. Whether you like him or not, he's not responsible for team selections. That's on Des. So I don't understand the hate. We aren't a rich club, don't have a benevolent billionaire owner. It's either the Penns or we fold. Unless we can garnish a consortium from silvertails we are stuck with them. Actually consortium of silvertails would end in tragedy. Imagine the fireworks at board meetings with @Woodsie and @Kevinward777

Interested in taking on the chairman "s role then . No seriously good post , would not be surprised if the Penns have to kick in regularly some 1. 5 mil to well over 2 mill on an annual basis depending on the type of season that has ensued . Maybe there would be other suitable interested parties but they would better or need have reasonably deep pockets and long term commitment to the club
