Luke Brooks - the plate is hot

I didn’t think he was very good tonight but I might be being harsh. Does he cop a week for that spear tackle on Graham late? If so Walsh for a debut next week 🤔

I thought Brooks has played well the past few weeks, including tonight. I don’t think he’ll miss any games for the tackle. He let the player go immediately & didn’t go on with the tackle.

I.M.O this guy should be under pressure. He's been cruising along , not coping the bullets that others have. He's a senior playmaker and he's not been delivering what he should.
Scored 1 try , 8 try assists, 12 line break assists, 6 offloads. Not good enough. He needs to step up big time the next 8 weeks because so far he's not showing anywhere near what we need.

At this point in the season last year, he had 2 tries, 9 try assists, 11 line break assists, and 6 offloads. Pretty similar numbers. Admittedly, he, and the rest of the team, went into better form immediately after this time last year.

He's not exactly inspiring, but he was never meant to be the main man. Instead our main man has been cashing in. I have more faith when Brooks has the ball, than I do when DCE is holding it. It was the inverse last year.

just another one on the manly retirement plan get a big dollar multi-year contract then lay back and rake it in every week for the least amount of effort you can get away with. Then we end up stuck with lazy players and no cap room to invest in better

I think he's helped Tolu's game progress well this season. If he continued to do just this, and not carry the team on his shoulders for wins (as we knew this was never really expected of him), then that's a contract well earned. If he complements Fogarty well for a couple more years until the next gen are ready, then even better.

He's still done more over the last 18 months than Foz, Schuster, Humphreys, and Latu combined.

We have more pressing issues.

I agree we have more pressing problems than Brooks, he's been quite good at 5/8, I think

This is Brooks 2024 stats:
26 games, 5 tries, 17 try assists, 19 line-break assists, ran for 94 metres per game, broke 43 tackles and tackled at just under 85%.

And last year's top ten 5/8s, ranked on 2024 stats

10 Mam
9 Strange
8 D Brown
7 Keary
6 Galvin
5 Burton
4 Brooks
3 Trindall
2 Dearden
1 Luai

DCE - 4 Tries , 13 Try assists, 9 Line Break assists, 14 offloads. They both need to step up big time in the next 8 games or we are burnt toast.

I never had too higher hopes. He is a good player and a good bloke and great team mate though but no super star. Good solid first grader

Question…
Jazz is leaving, [edit: Froggy is busted], Simpkins is here for 2026 but has not been extended and Joey Walsh seems to be going well enough in lower grades to be considered for this weekend…

Any chance our 2026 side could look like…
9. Brooks
7. Walsh
6. Fogarty
14. Simpkins

Brooks would look better with a threating second rower outside him, he gives burbo alot of good ball a top rate second rower would thrive on and if they did it'd unlock the rest of the back line, Burbo is a handbrake at times.

A good ball player needs moving parts around him. Got to get our players running good lines into gaps rather than straight into defenders.
