Total beat up.
This happens all the time in public areas.
I've been part of the process.
Some small pieces of fibro are found at a park or school playground. The area is fenced off by maintenance guys. Inspectors/contractors (me) come to make safe what's found and do a visual inspection of the affected area and the surrounding areas just to be safe. If more is found, it's made safe. Usually at most a scratch search is also done where the top of the surface will be lightly sifted through. Once no more traces are found a hazard material guy comes for a final inspection and to take away the asbestos. A verbal notification will be given that it's all clear so the area can be used again while waiting on the official clearance certificate.
If it was an area about to be excavated it would be a different story.
But there could be tonnes of asbestos under the hill and as long as there's a foot or 2 of soil over it it's considered safe for people to use the area.

No way the game goes ahead at Brookie.

Even if it's deemed safe, the council and club will open themselves to all sorts of issues by putting footy fans and family's at a media hyped risk which will do nothing but hurt the clubs reputation.

It's extremely bad timing but if the club has any smarts, they have to cop it on the chin and move the game to another location.

The reality is there is no more risk being at Brookvale oval than at any pre mid 1980's house.

I’ve seen protest events already happening on Facebook. As frustrating as it is, no matter what happens we still need to turn up and support our boys.

In saying that, I will be LIVID if we get moved. I’m proper stressed about it, and praying for good news by 6pm tomorrow

But by who's standards.?
Council or NRL??

Well I wish they had opened with that statement instead of saying we're in danger of losing the match. I have my fingers crossed!

I always said the NRL would never let us play a final at Brookie. But I sure didn’t see this one coming. Imagine the media if the game goes ahead. We’d be lucky to sell a ticket.

Council facility. Council safety declaration, and liability. Don’t expect them to do us any favours.
