Lottoland cleared - Manly Home final!

Can't blame the club for this. Council should have had a hazardous substance register of all it's assets, especially given it's a public space. Depending where it was found/tested will determine how much of a risk it is. If it's loose pieces found around the ground then there will be major problems. If it's found in the structures but undisturbed then i don't see how they can claim that it's dangerous.

Like with lead paint if it's undisturbed and bonded properly then there is no immediate issue. If it's loosely bonded and pieces are all over the place then it's a big problem.

Poor from Council to not have this addressed but even worse they haven't done any analysis on this and hiring the venue out and allowing the public to use it.

Backs against the wall here big time

F**k that.
If the game has to be moved we should be able to choose where. In that case I choose Gosford.
I am still trying to recover from Friday night where some arsehole Parramatta fan decided it would be fun to lurch his car forward at my children as we were walking back to our car.
Absolute mental midgets.
Been that way for years, yet the more backward you are the more you seem to receive...

This really is a beat up! We have played games there for decades and the NRL fear a Manly revival in a big way. Up to our fans to fill the place next Saturday night and send a little message to Greenturd and cronies.

If we are forced to move, would it not make sense to play the game at the SCG?? Just the bleeding obvious and better for both sets of fans rather than Wankfest which will be a hassle for everyone!!

But of we play at Bankwest , it will save Ch9 having to move the equipment for the Sunday game.

They may have found asbestos there but if you dig deep into the councils chambers we would be guaranteed to find a bunch of egotistic , incompetent , useless and corrupt bunch of fat cats, feeding off the public funds

A question to any of you who happen to live on the Peninsula and have been around Brookie since Friday.

So, if this is now such a major health issue, I would assume that the council immediately isolated the area concerned and denied the public access to the area with a large exclusion area.

Has this happened?

If not, why not? As no council, public body or private enterprise would, assuming they’re sane and don’t want to be sued, not immediately close down the site if there was a health risk from asbestos.

If it hasn’t, then either the council are complete morons or the NRL are grossly over reacting and have an agenda against Manly and Brookie; I’m pretty sure I know which one.

No doubt champ, but truth is asbestos was a very commonly used building material and a lot of public assets still have it. It's not ideal to have it but to get rid of it is sometimes not urgent, especially if it is undisturbed. Not holding my breath but you would like to think that Council has previously identified the asbestos and had a consultant put together an assessment and management plan to assess the likelihood of the risk to people and environment with a plan to address them based on the risk.

Again i wouldn't hold my breath. SAFEWORK NSW could be interested in this considering Manly conduct business at the venue and it's a place of work for it's employees.

Let's hope it's a storm in a tea cup

The NRL would be loving this, two teams that are being talked about being kicked out or moved forced to play as far as possible away to the area they are associated with.
They can turn around and say the lowest crowd of the finals was played between these two teams, no real support so they don't meet our requirements.

Move game to Warriewood and place snipers on Spit bridge, Roseville bridge and MV road with strict instructions not to let any bald man with a suspicious looking bag anywhere near the joint.
