[Resurrected] Lol @ Parra

This better not be true, 8 points is NOTHING for deliberately cheating.

Sterlo questions whether Eels can make the finals after point deduction
By Brendan Bradford
Sporting News

".....Former Parramatta great Peter Sterling says it would be an uphill struggle for the Eels to make the finals if they were to be stripped eight competition points by the NRL.

Speaking on Triple M's The Rush Hour, Sterling responded to Channel 7 reports that the Eels were set to be docked eight points for salary cap breaches.

Currently on 10-points, an eight point deduction would drop the Eels into 15th spot on the ladder, above only the Roosters by points-difference....."

Just hurry up and make a decision already. The longer this goes on the more of a farce it'll become when they finally do dock them. How is it fair to the teams that play them early in the season when they still think they have something to play for.

Parra signed Jenko after they were already fpund to be in breach of the Cap.

At the very least, they should be made to move him on by 30 June :lightbulb:
True and what is very concerning is that Toddy boy and his pack of good for nothing stooges approved the contract...
Someone fine the nrl for treating it's fan like mushrooms and insulting the intelligence of what is esssentially the game..It's fans, i say we make enough noise and demand the cheating prick resign! This bloke is a true blight on the game, he was caught out on camera in the doggies sheds only last year, another example of his shear ignorance and lack of respect, like he didnt know there where cameras in there.. he believes he is bigger than the game, i say resign and resign immediately! Shame Toddy shame!

Parramatta Eels members invited to movie screening on same night as club AGM

Popcorn or AGM: the Parramatta members movie invite on the night of the AGM. Photo: Supplied

It's expected to be the most fiery annual general meeting in Parramatta's history - and club officials are inviting members to go to the movies instead.

In what might be interpreted as an oversight by some and a diversion by others, Eels members have been sent an offer to "meet and mingle" with players before viewing a screening of the film Broke at Event Cinemas Parramatta on Monday, May 2.

That just happens to be the same evening as the Parramatta Leagues Club AGM where club chairman Steve Sharp and the rest of the Eels board, if they're still in power, are expected to be grilled from the floor about the salary cap scandal threatening to bring the team's encouraging season to its knees.

By that point it is likely to be abundantly clear just how seriously the NRL is taking the club's series of alleged third-party payment breaches, with a penalty involving a loss of competition points tipped before the end of next week.

If that is the case and Sharp and co are still clinging on, the AGM shapes as living up to its colourful recent history, even though it is not an election year. At the 2014 edition, the chairman's former premiership teammate and factional enemy Terry Leabeater was ejected from the auditorium after throwing his voting paddle in front of Sharp in disgust. On that farcical night a motion for a code of conduct for directors was even voted down.

On the agenda this year are resolutions that include a protection for members against privatisation and constitutional amendments including a rule that would prohibit ex-employees from running for the board for at least three years after they finish working at the club.

For those who brush the movie offer and opt for the AGM, though, the salary cap saga is sure to be a hot topic.

Broke, the fictional account of an ex-North Sydney player who in retirement struggles with alcohol and gambling, is apparently a fine drama.

The Parramatta AGM might well be filed on the 'action' shelf.

Did they free up money for Jennings by releasing Hoppa?
No - they just threw away Hoppa's signed contract and pretended it didn't exist.:wondering:
That's why Hoppa took them to court - still pending a hearing date it seems.

Which raises another contentious, conveniently overlooked helping hand that the NRL are giving the Eeels.
The NRL have been quoted as stating that, should the Supreme Court rule in Hoppa's favour and Parra have to pay out the unregistered contract that he signed, that this amount will not be counted against their Cap:swear:

This is as corrupt as the TPA deals, if not more so.
What's to stop other Clubs signing a player on stupid monies and taking him off the market. Then when everyone's roster is full, tell him that they will not be asking the NRL to register it?😡

Even if Hoppa does win his case, it will not deter the rich Clubs from hedging their bets and signing all and sundry, only to release them without Cap penalty when they find someone better?🙄

Sunrise just repeated the same thing. Eight points. Will be handed down in the coming weeks?
Interesting argument with an Eels fan yesterday....her take is no points deducted(surprised?...wait for it), because none of the players did anything wrong, it's all their managers faults and the Parra board's. They should be fined and sacked.
At this point I asked if she thought it was a level playing field, what with essentially is an illegally formed team? Answer....once again...it's not the players fault etc etc
There's a very good reason neither of us can sit in the same room when the footys on...regardless of who's playing :banghead::banghead::banghead:

I think the NRL are actually releasing these "rumours" so they can monitor the public's reaction. Just like they do in politics all the time.

So - for the record Todd - 8 points is an absolute cop out. Anything less than playing for no points this year is a farce.

As I said in the other thread I still think they will dock them just enough points so they can still get into the top 8. They probably think everyone is too stupid to realise. An absolute load of s**t...

So if the Slime get docked 8 points, how do they keep their points differential? They shouldn't have a positive differential if they're docked 8 points. The points should be deducted as well.
This game is so corrupt it's making my blood boil. The donkeys schedule, parra cheats dream draw, Manly's snowball's chance in hell schedule, including ONE Sunday game at Brookie in 20 rounds!
I wish we fans had the power to do something. Maybe we do but I don't know what....
What a rort!!!

I know it won't ever happen but the way the soccer fans boycotted matches earlier in the season sent a pretty clear message.

Ask her what she would feel if Manly did it and secured the services of Thurston, Inglis, Morgan, Milford, Tamou, Scott and Radradra. Would she be saying its not the players fault if we were then playing Parramatta

C'mon man, some of those words have more than one syllable. How is she expected to answer such an intricate line of questioning.

Anyway, the players still get paid, so mortgage and all the other aspects of life...food shelter boinking are taken care of so in the long run the players aren't really punished 'financially.'

Plus precedent has been set (storm/dogs)
Plus players and managers should be more accountable
Plus punishment will force fans, players, ch 9, to make boards more accountable

Plus.. lol @ parra - toe munchin' gimpoids!
