Sure, if that is all that happened, that is right at the lowest range of seriousness for an assault.

He's also charged with intimidation, that is a serous offence carrying 5 years jail (common assault only carries 2 years) and does not require any physical contact.

Not to prejudge this matter, but we can all imagine serious intimidation that is not accompanied by physical violence, and it can be terrifying for the victims and have long term psychological effects.

Especially in a domestic context because the safety of your own home is compromised.

For a graphic portrayal of domestic intimidation see Once were Warriors, as I recall it was pretty disturbing.

As I said, not prejudging this case, just a general observation about 'only threw a drink on her'.

Intimidation can also just be a 'bonus' charge they chuck in there for something innocuous. In my case, told a male family member who has a history of assaulting a younger female family member that if he approached either of us again I'd kill him. When it got to court and the police prosecutor became aware of what a scumbag he is, they approached my lawyer to 'make it go away' as quickly as possible - which meant pleading guilty to intimidation. Not the only case I'm aware of where 'intimidation' is drawing a pretty long bow.

He sounds like a waste of a good strawberry milkshake .... stay strong.

That's a pretty good way to describe him @:D ...although the results were kind of worth it!

I'm all good, just wish I'd done it years ago!

HEARD ON THE PENINSULAR

A First grade teacher explains to her class that she is a Sea Eagle fan. She
asks her students to raise their hands if they are Sea Eagle fans too. Not really knowing what a Sea Eagle fan was, but wanting to be liked by their teacher, their hands fly into the air.

There is, however, one exception. Coleen has not gone along with the
crowd. The teacher asks her why she has decided to be different.

"Because I'm not a Sea Eagle fan " she answers.

"Then," asks the teacher, "what are you?"

"I'm a Raiders fan " boasts the little girl.

The teacher asks Coleen why she is a Raiders fan . "Well, my Dad and
Mum are Raiders fans , so I'm a Raiders fan too" she responds.

"That's no reason," the teacher says. "What if your mum was a moron and your dad was a real loser. What would you be then?"

Coleen smiles and says, "Then I'd be an Eels fan".

While I'm in a less grumpy mood:

A PARA FAMILY STORY

A Family of Dontmatta supporters head out one Saturday morning to do their Christmas shoplifting.

While in Rebel Sports the son picks up a Manly footy jumper and says to his 10 year old sister, "I've decided to become a Sea Eagles supporter and I would like this for Christmas".

His sister, outraged by this, promptly whacks him round the head with her carton of Winfields and says, "Go talk to Mum."

Off goes the little lad with the Manly footy jumper in hand and finds his mother.

"Mum?" "Yes son?" "I've decided I'm going to be a Sea Eagles supporter and I would like this jumper for Christmas".

The mother is outraged at this and throws her Ugh boots and a full stubbie of VB at him, promptly whacks him around the head and says, "Lets go talk to your father".

Off they go to Long Bay during visiting hours with footy jumper in hand and find 'Greazy', his father.

"Dad?" "Yes son?" "I've decided I'm going to be a Sea Eagles supporter and I would like this jumper for Christmas".

Greazy is outraged and promptly whacks his son around the head with the Daily Telecrap Turf Guide and says, "No son of mine is ever going to be seen in THAT", and then kicks him from one end of the reccy room to the other for further good measure.

About half an hour later they're all back in the car and heading towards home at Dundas.

The mother turns to her son and says "Son, I hope you've learned something today?"

The son says, "Yes Knackers I have."

"Good, son - what is it?"

The son replies, "I've only been a Manly supporter for a couple of hours and already I hate you Parra **stards."

Semi Radradra to leave Parramatta Eels for French rugby side Toulon

TROUBLED flyer Semi Radradra will turn his back on rugby league and Parramatta after signing a two-year deal with French rugby side Toulon.

The Daily Telegraph can reveal Radradra has rejected a lucrative three-year contract extension at the Eels and will walk away at the end of the 2017 season. His departure now means Parramatta will have about $1 million in salary cap space for next year.

Radradra will miss half the French rugby season after the Eels dug in their heels to ensure the 24-year-old fan favourite fulfils his contract. While the French season starts in August, Radradra will not be free to play until November.

It is understood Radradra has not sought an early exit for the Eels after being told he would need to break his contract if he wanted to leave.

A looming court case places uncertainty surrounding Radradra’s NRL career. He is due to face court again on February 13 on domestic violence charges regarding an incident with his former partner, Perina Ting. He was asked to surrender his passport at his last court appearance in November.

“The Eels have been advised by George Christodoulou, the manager of Semi Radradra, that Semi has accepted an offer to play rugby union for Toulon,” Eels chief executive Bernie Gurr said.

“As advised previously to Semi and his manager, Semi will fulfil his 2017 playing contract with the Parramatta Eels as the club will not release Semi from his 2017 obligations to our club.

“Accordingly, the earliest Semi could commence at Toulon is early November 2017.”

Toulon had prematurely trumpeted the signing of Radradra in November. Radradra has the option for a second season in his favour.

The Eels had signalled their intentions to keep Radradra at the club beyond his contract expiring at the end of this year. He walked away from a $1.5 million NRL three-year deal to sign a $1 million dollar a season contract with Toulon.

“In early December, the Eels indicated our wish to keep Semi at our club by making a very attractive offer to Semi for 2017 (an upgrade of existing contract), 2018 and 2019,” Gurr said.

“The offer from Toulon was substantially higher than our club’s offer. We look forward to Semi being a most productive member of the Eels playing squad and then we wish Semi well in his rugby union venture with Toulon.”

Parramatta are expected to be among the most active teams in the player market for next season. Already half a million dollars under the salary cap for this year, the Eels have not rushed into replacing big-money recruits Anthony Watmough and Kieran Foran.

They need a long-term halves partner to Corey Norman and are eyeing a hooker.

Radradra, who has been training with the Eels this week, has scored 60 tries from 68 matches since making his debut for the Eels in 2013. He represented Australia last year.

You cant blame him. Dull Parramatta or the French Riviera? I would have hit the eject button too. Hopefully Parra cut him early and it disrupts their season a bit
