Lodge, you Monster

Another thought on Lodge.

In some ways it is similar to how we have to look at music. As an example do you react the speculation over what Michael Jackson was accused of from his art (now granted he was not convicted).
What about Diddy? Do you seperate what someone does away from their "job"

Wait, I thought it was The Dragons he wanted to play for? Now it's morphed into The Bunnies? I get he was chasing the dollars, but the fact he's signed with us...it's not really a show of passion for our jersey or loyalty - is it.

I actually like(d) Lodge, but now, he's just a mercenary who soaked up mountains of our salary cap getting rehabilitated, and has severely regressed as a player (like Nathan Brown).
"Mountains"?

The whole reason we signed him was because he was cheap as chips.

I believe his contract starts after the Boxing match ? So I imagine if he was injured it might affect the contract ??

Yeah and we get Lodge Brown and Taukehio
And Chee Kam and Waddell.
They may have picked better but they were premiers or already on the rise. If Manly can build on last years gains then we’ll be increasingly appealing to potential recruits.

But my point was you don’t need to stack your pack with 21 year olds, and even Penrith doesn’t do that.

LODGE PACKS A PUNCH

Former NRL bad boy Matt Lodge is hoping to emulate Paul Gallen by making waves in the world of boxing.

The Manly prop continued his impressive entry to the fight game with a second consecutive knockout win.

On the day of the NRL’s 2025 Vegas kick-off, there were fireworks at Sydney’s Bella Vista Hotel when Lodge hammered 119kg Fijian monster Jonasa Kavika in a second-round knockout.

Lodge tipped the scales at a hulking 122kg and those who have sparred the former Broncos prop say he possesses a brutally powerful right hand.

Lodge has previously called out Gallen, who made more than $5 million from boxing, and is keen to advance his boxing career.

“I’ve really enjoyed the challenge of boxing,” said Lodge, who also won his debut fight last November.

“I’ve always loved fighting.

“It was great to experience and even better to come away healthy with two early stoppages.

Boxing is a great way to keep me fit and sharp.

“I’m still confident in what I can do on a footy field and my body is feeling awesome.

“I’m going to put my energy into footy first and get ready for the NRL.

“There’s always people looking for a fight and for some reason everyone wants to fight the big white guy. Maybe because there’s not many of us left anymore.

“I know there will be plenty that will want to fight me.

“If the time is right for me and my footy club, let’s get them on.

At least people know I’ll come to fight. I love it.”
