Schuster is not a bona fide hard running back rower, but his talent is immense and he needs to be in the squad somewhere. With the way we are travelling I am not sure where.

Lawton is killing it with the opportunity he has been given. What a signing he has turned out to be!

Schuster re-injured the calf as he was about to come back which is why the injury report looked like a miscalculation.

Is it a similar situation with Sironen? Radio silence from the club on that front.

Schuster has given similar performances at 12, ie Tigers.
Having him means we basically have 3 halves which is so essential for our side considering our centres are basically line runners, and don’t offer much else in attack.

Supposedly Walker can cover 6 and centre, albeit poor defensively.
Lawton can cover 9, 2RF, 13, halves and centre and is defensively very good.

But we will already have other forwards on the bench. What happens if Harper or Parker get injured?

Lawton is doing great. How about Schuster off the bench for 60 mins rotating primarily with Haumole and Foran. Lawton can play 80 minutes primarily as a backrower, but could also go to hooker for the last 20 minutes. This would mean potentially we could have Lawton at hooker, Schuster at five-eight and Walker at lock for the last 20 minutes of the second half. Obviously Jake goes into the prop rotation for the last 20, and Keppie and Sipley get the same minutes as they usually do when playing off the bench. I also have no problems with the exact same seventeen with Lawton at 15, and Schuster as backrow. The key difference between Lawton and Schuster is fitness and the ability to play a consistent 80 minutes in terms of performance. The bench would be

Yes he would. Particularly leading up to the finals. But for the finals I cant really find a spot for Walker, and would think a bench that includes Taupau, Keppie and Sipley would be necessary, particularly against the Storm. If we have Walker at lock against the Storm we will have massive issues in the middle defensively.

How could he be taking Sipley's spot, he will start in Kapow's spot. Kelpie has been playing back row for months so him on the bench covers 2RF rotation and 2RF/ prop injury. Also if a back gets injured Shoo or Lawton can cover it and Kelpie covers them.

If you want to drop Sipley it is to fit Walker in...not at or around finals time please.

EDIT: Some here talking Walker up is if he is great. The TRUTH is that he is off-contract and there has not been even the slightest peep from 15 other clubs. Maybe they are all wrong.

Des is giving him a run to see if he is even worth keeping. On last week's performance it should be a resounding NO.

Neither have played centre in first grade. Walker can cover 1-6. Garrick to full back and he goes to centre etc.

I like Lawton though. Imagine we have Fainu as well. We never seem to be full strength though. Sure there will be injuries

Was outstanding again yesterday. Unpopular opinion but I think he should keep his spot when Schuster comes back. As a backrower, he has offered more than Josh so far. Schuster’s performance against Para at 6 was special and yes, was making a good fist of the edge but was inconsistent at times and overplayed his hand.
Lawton would have to be one of the form backrowers in the Competition at the moment.

It may be in Schuster's interest to go elsewhere but certainly not in ours. He's already the best ball playing back rower in the comp and he's only played a handful of games. The Shoe is, hopefully, a long term strike weapon in maroon and white.

I don't see Schuster as a five eight at all. I think his natural position is patrolling the edge of the ruck and terrorising the opposition centres and halves in attack.

We’ve got some good form against poor teams like dogs, titans, tigers, cowboys, broncos.

Not the time to let go of our most talented youngster, foran has been good but his time is ticking.
