He deserves to start from what Ive seen so far this year. Kelly has x factor, and that footwork is special.

Wright is a solid reggies player who can fill in for 1sts as required.
Ferguson made him look silly a couple of times in the first half last night.

Interesting. I'm not so worried about that part of his game as this would be more nerves than anything. What I'm keen to know is how was he in defence?

No points down his side when he was on field, although I cant remember if Ferguson was still his direct opposite, or if he was being rested as well.
Green helped him out on more than one occasion though as well.

I do remember that a tweet came through that he smashed Fergo early in the second half which sounded promising.

From what I heard and read kelly outplayed J wright.

Given M wright is still recovering from a hand issue you would think kelly will get a start. Which will be good for him.

saw some highlights, where blake ferguson went straight past jono wright and passed to connor watson to score. From what I saw there, jono should no way be in the side round 1. Not sure how kelly went, can someone let me know

My honest assessment.
Kelly should get the centre spot over Wright in round 1.
Wright got stood up by Ferguson very easily in the first half and didn't add anything to our attack at all.
Kelly was solid in defense, I didn't see any line breaks down his side in the second half. Kelly dropped a few balls at pace, but I put that down to timing and combinations. Kelly showed a lot more promise in attack, he's got that x-factor, he's electric with the ball and caused the Roosters problems even though the execution was off.

If he's not a better option than J Wright he shouldn't be at the club.
Wright is a back up only.
If he starts we are in serious trouble.

A 'gamble' is subjective, unless the matches are pre-determined, you could say we have to 'gamble' with various backline players until we settle on the best one. Use another adjective that you're more comfortable with and call it 'experimenting' if that's easier. I hope Trent sees enough evidence in Kelly to 'take a punt' on him in round 1. But like you said, if Trent doesn't think he's ready, he'll wait till he thinks he is and I can easily live with that..
All I really wanted to emphasise in that post is that- I hope Trent considers him ready for Round 1 coz I believe he could make a good impact from the begining of the season. My apologies if I stilled missed your point @SeaEagleRock8
