Kaeo Weekes

I think he played ok, I wouldn’t say he dominated the game for a number 7, he put the one kick in that Cotric scored off.

He kicked 3/5 60%, no line breaks or line bteak assists from Kaeo, for me he is a long way off having the kicking game for a first grade number 7, more of a running 5/8 for me which is very similar to Ethan Strange.

Rather Scorpio ask yourself how successful Manly has been in the past decade letting those players go. I wonder how successful Manly would have been if they had retained some of those kids they spent a lot of time preparing for their big chance and then showing them the door after a handful of games. Schuster I understand. He had several years of opportunity and though I think he will come good eventually, it was obvious that he wasn't in the right frame of mind to continue. Manly acted appropriately. But in answer to your question, several others who had played only a hand full of first grade appearances for Manly, or even none at all, despite obvious talent, were shown the door and several have succeeded elsewhere.. Knee jerk reactions in my opinion. Looking for the quick fix. Showing no patience. The Storm would never have done that. I know I harp on this issue, but to me its been ongoing since 2015. Before that, as far back as I can recall (that's back to the 60's) Manly held onto their young potential stars. Let them develop at their own pace.

Lolz, this thread is an over reaction if I've ever seen one.

Weekes hasn't been able to make the team only coming in via injury and was awful last week.

Would have been dropped if they had any other halfback option.

We imploded and he looked okay in the second half but he ain't one we are going to rue letting go.

The Stick is getting more out of this bloke than any of our esteemed coaches ever could.

Perhaps Sticky is actually coaching Weekes, giving him structures to follow and allowing his heads up plays when he sees it.

No idea what Manly was doing

Kid can play! Unlike Manly give him 2 games and tell him look elsewhere. Raider must be thinking how good is this.
Good local kid lost! And we go and pay $750k for Brooks.
Seilbold idiot.

If we kept Weekes, Spoony would actually have to coach the kid.
We know why he got rid of him then.

Observed seeing Weekes doing the haka with 6 other Kiwi Raiders players as a tribute to Quentin Pongia (who was part of the '94 premiership team, celebrating the 30th anniversary at Suncorp).
Nice to see Kaeo in the group with Tapine, Levi, Timoko, Rapana, etc. He must be happy to be accepted in Canberra, and good on him.

Ricky is playing him in the 7, we were using him as a utility.
Seibs threw him under the bus with one shot in the halves, then threw him away, read above that Sticky’s a great coach, not a great coach, but I’ll say this about him he says what needs to be said, he gets the respect and or response from his players, his a good man manager and is having a good deal of success bringing on his younger players.

Seibs gave the kid heaps of chances.

Just sayin’

Don’t think winning 1 premiership with a star studded Roosters team over 20 years ago qualifies as a great coach. Aside from the year Canberra was unlucky a few years ago, his other teams like Parra and Cronulla didn’t threaten.

Yep he is a good coach, but no way he is a great coach.

I think he is a decent coach but outside of that Roosters roster, he hasn’t had much to work with. Cronulla and Eels rosters were in transitional stages when he took over and Raiders notoriously struggle to attract marquee players. I agree he is not one of the greats, but certainly effective.

Not sure I’d agree with that, just had a quick look, 12 games, filling in all over the place, anyway your entitled to your view.
Yeah but that’s my point … he played half a season in a number of positions and his reputation/ expectation vastly exceeded his ability.
