Nailed it.
Barrett has not improved a single player in his time with us. I would evenngonso far to say The Tommy Turbo has stunted in progression under him.
100% !!!. How can any player gain any self confidence and improvement playing in a team that struggles to win a home game , Struggles win a close game , Struggles win more than 2 games in a row , Struggles to get away from the spoon .
Player self development does not happen when a incompetent coach has his team team struggling to gain any momentum .

Mate... do yourself a favour and give up trying to figure that one out... as it stands the Barrett sympathisers are presenting the following argument as substantive proof that Trent is deserving of both our respect and thankfulness. We have to seperate Trent the coach from Trent the libertarian... Trent’s results are farking reprehensible but in no way are they to be considered in the the big picture. The Barrett sympathisers are trying to push forward the delusion that Trent sacrificed his career as a head coach and pulled the pin on a 12 month notice period to allow for his exit from the club to come into effect halfway through next season because of his love for the players and a dissatisfaction towards the diabolical state of our facilities. He is a selfless revolutionary... aaaand he didn’t have a list manager... something along those lines anyway.
The Barrett sympathisers dont have any sympathy for our club and how Trent tarnished our "fear of fortress" reputation .
Trent turned our fortress into a whore house where opposition teams would come and screw us on our home ground .
The Barret sympathisers are Mediocre Minded Barrett lovers and they can all follow him out the North shore door

You can't coach desire, that comes from within, and Wright never convinced me he had any in what I saw of him
Maybe so... but Trent Barrett will still go down as the worst performing coach in the clubs modern history... and he’s managed to pull that off with a squad that contains ten times the talent that old Peter Sharp had at his disposal... Anyone who is delusional enough to believe that our soon to be ex coach’s actions are anything other than those of a desperate man trying to save face by making up excuses with the hope of squeezing One final payout, needs to slap themselves about the face until such a time as they come to their senses. I ABSOLUTELY GUARANTEE you that Des or Tooves or Bozo would never use such spineless reasoning as an explanation for abject failure. People on here talk about what it means to be Manly... yet defend a sook who didn’t cut it as a coach, here or anywhere else. Barrett is a dud... we can see VERY CLEAR evidence of this fact on a multitude of levels. I’m tired of reading about him to be honest... he probably is a lovely country bloke and did his best, but he was terrible... and the club has progressed steadily downhill ever since he came here. The Penns have made moves to lead us back in the right direction and I’m very happy to see them doing that... but I dare say that it has fark all to do with Trent throwing his toys out of the cot...

my take on this is simple. His cap space was taken up to wear the 6. He was an individualist, an enigma style player. We have DCE for decades who needs someone to play the game manager as he can not. Cherry contract and pkaying style dictates the player style and contracts offered to the no 6

Regardless of what talent or potential he had, he didnt fit the squad so we are better off buying a winger or a workhorse. He was neither.

No other NRL saw value in buying him either or thought his cost was too high. Surely that says something as well

Loved his sidestep but hated how he used it to avoid tackling just quietly

You're the king of the long bow mate lol, Api did play in that grand final because Luke was suspended but he was far from proven

I'm still on the fence a bit with Barrett, mainly because I thought in 2017 we performed well above expectations, and there were plenty of good signs about a lot of things in the club at that point, but all in all due to a lot of circumstances, some out of Barrett's control, we didn't capitalise on those gains this season

Where we will agree is that we are both happy to see Dessie behind the clipboard next season
We scraped into the finals with a team containing DCE, Blake Green, Turbo, Walker, Marty, Siro, Jake, AFB, Api, and Some very good junior talent... I was prepared to give him another season to build on the result from 2017... and this season proved last season was a fluke. Our defence has regressed under Barrett.

Keep going Kevin
Music to my ears

The fact TB can’t get a gig elsewhere says it all. Even the asprentice’s master (Gould) hasn’t taken him in. Carty will suffer the same fate.

Really?? I mean.....c'mon, seriously?

I don't want to sound nasty, just realistic. Lets face it, the only reasons DCE got back into rep footy this year was because Cronk and Thurston retired, Morgan and Ponga got injured and Ben Hunt continued to prove that he can't handle pressure in big games. Qld literally had no one left who could do the job. Corey Norman? Ha!! He was playing as bad as Barrett was coaching.

If you honestly think that Barrett's coaching of Manly helped Cherry in any way get his rep jumpers back, then you are starting to clutch at straws with your defence of the guy.

And this is nothing at all against Cherry because I firmly believe he should have been playing rep footy anyway and the fact that he wasn't was total BS. I'm glad he's back in rep footy, he deserves it and should never have lost his spot in the first place. But the reality is that if Qld had anyone else they thought could have done the job, he'd likely have been overlooked again and that would also have hurt his Kangaroos chances.

Good luck to Cherry because he's grabbed the opportunity with both hands and I hope this time around that he becomes a mainstay for his state and country. But its hardly something Barrett is responsible for.

All that is good ..... but you have inadvertently proved the point I was making ...... so called 'facts" and stats qouted by some to justify their position are often completely meaningless without pages of explanatory notes and qualification .....

To answer your question ... no ... I don't think Baz coached DCE to a higher level ...... just as I don't believe he coached him to a lower level .....

"Profession"? You mean what you do for a living?

I have had many a loss in my working career, unsuccessful tenders, failed bids etc etc. but I am far from a "loser".

You must be perfect?
I am sorry to hear about you
I have not been sacked or underachieved in my career
I am not perfect and certainly not incompetent or a loser

Funny, this doesn't look like one of your memes:

When Bozo played his 1st game .... nobody doubted his ability ... He had it ..
When 2V played his 1st game .... nobody doubted his ability .. He had it ..
When Turbo played his 1st game ... nobody doubted his ability ... He had it ...

The fact hat so many people have a different opinion of Tom Wright tells a story ......

Thats what I love about this joint. Our Silvertails forum . We all have our say .
The fact is Some players have taken more that just 5 games off the bench to cement a NRL career ;)

Interesting that you say he is a 6 and this to me is a big part of the mystery that is Tom Wright.
It seems that he didn’t have a specialist position.
I’m sure when Bozo was around all the talk was they thought he’d make a handy centre but if that was the long term plan they didn’t persist in his education in that position.

I’m not even sure if he knows his best position so 7’s rugby may be exactly where he fits.

For any number of reasons he’s floated between 1, 3, 4 and 6 - sure he can attack but that’s the part that comes naturally. If he’s not a great communicator, defender or team player then what can you do?
