Exactly my thoughts. Hopefully yes.Is there a boxing clause?
I agree, there’s no real proof it’s good business, actually struggling to recall any examples of long term contracts that have proven to be astute, if anything there maybe evidence to the contrary. In saying that happy that Saab and Quac won’t be leaving the club any time soon.I hate long contracts! How can you possibly commit yourself for a period of 5-10 years into the future? It doesn't matter who the player is. It's madness!
I get what you’re saying Pete and I know this sounds ‘suck eggsish’, however I imagine that managing your salary cap is like a game of chess.I hate long contracts! How can you possibly commit yourself for a period of 5-10 years into the future? It doesn't matter who the player is. It's madness!
In the case of medical retirements, to which you refer, surely there is financial coverage through an insurance/welfare scheme that does not impact a club's long term Cap.Long contracts are just madness in this environment where the NRL is all in on concussion. Any player could retire in 12 months and 5 years is a long time to carry that. Its no longer old players with existing injuries that could be a gamble
Anyone with a head.
I didnt think there was. Big hoo haa when sam burgess was pensioned off. The payer gets paid. There used to be a thing about pre existing injury when contracts was signed but i am completely unaware if that has been changedIn the case of medical retirements, to which you refer, surely there is financial coverage through an insurance/welfare scheme that does not impact a club's long term Cap.
DCE contract was desperateHonestly how can anyone tell what the impact of the contract might be?
As an example by signing him to a long contract does that mean we are paying him less per year than what we would over say a 3 year period? Maybe there are clauses in there?
Honestly between this and the Ola contract my gut says that it is our way of reducing our year to year cap. Yes there are risks but it does appear to be some form of strategy
All good to be a show pony, but when you can’t back it up, you look like a donkey. Hehaw tonight SaabLook gutted in the sheds post game.....and rightly so. He costs us the game tonight. Turbo must have been spewin. Has too much show in his game and doesn't ice it when it counts. Someone like DWZ, To'o or Tupou would have nailed both of those opportunities.
