Jamie Humphreys

Humphreys has struggled in the halves whilst Walker has been out just like Brooks has every time DCE has been out. I agree he likely won't ever be an elite half but he has the tools to be a long-term player in the NRL and I'm sure he will continue to improve as he matures. Seems like some like to point out the average performances of our ex-players as much as some wonder why we let them go after they have good games, I don't think either really helps given they aren't here anymore. And this is coming from someone who was mystified we let Weekes and the Fainu's leave after watching them play over the weekend.

Ironically I do think Humphreys would make a better hooker but it seems we couldn't work out whether to play him there or in the halves and we've refused to move on from Croker, so can't blame him for heading to Souths for more consistent opportunities.

Truthfully i would have preferred him as our back up half option rather then Arthur... but then again I do eat a lot of sausage rolls so what would I know 🤔
I don’t think Jamie was happy to be a back up halves option though…and unlike Arthur, had a club prepared to offer him a bit of money and security.

I reckon Humphries will do ok. He'll be soaking up what he can from Bennett. It was a good move for him. Particularly, with the limited opportunities mentioned by others

Same with Weekes. We just didn't really know what to do with him. We tried a couple of positions but again, he had players in front. I remember one game DCE had a go at him on the field coz of a pass he gave him. I wonder if that sticks with him. He's certainly good when his confidence is up. But if you remember the early game against us at Brookie, he had a shocker when he dropped a couple of high balls. But good luck to him.

But the Fainus - I'm afraid I'm in the camp of - don't really care. As someone wrote last week, the club did a lot for the family - massive early contract for Latu and family support thru Monasi's court case and then they expected us to offer the brothers $500 K each to stay. A mate sent me a msg after the Tigers game saying I bet I regret the club letting them go. Nope was my response. Good luck to them but I don't care that they are now somewhere else.

Wighton's game has stagnated since he's been with Souths. Bet he wishes he was still with the Raiders.

Didn't he move to Souths, in order to taste more success?

Great call Jack. No-one ever accused him of having a large brain.

He moved to play 1st grade

He wasn't already playing FG at the Raiders?

100% and you can’t blame him for a minute , exactly the same as Weekes, behind Turbo so move for a guaranteed starting spot.

Lmao, keep up. It's really not that hard.

I like Humphries ... he's a good footballer, good defender, good runner, good tackler, good kicker .. all round good player ....

BUT ... he has the creativity of a termite chewed fencepost .... main play maker IMO ... is just not his go ..

Almost like Seibs trying to turn him into a #9 wasn't such a dumb move after all?

Especially with Cherry in front of him.

As measured as I've been on him as a half I think he could be a very useful 14 in the NRL covering hooker, halves and 13
