Jamie Humphreys

Unfortunately for Jamie and the club its about timing. Seeing Brooks signed must have felt like the door of opportunity was closed here. I understand his move who knows how long DCE will keep playing. Its done time to move on. At least we have a good back up number 7 for the rest of the season thats our up side.

Exactly, TE: it's not a question of blame but simply of timing. I've loved watching him develop throughout the lower grades, and I'd hoped we could keep him, but it's completely understandable why he'd want to leave and why the club might have other priorities. And as you say, there's no point dwelling on it.

I'm just glad he got to make his NRL debut as a Manly player. And his performance really was a testament to our coaching staff - not just at NRL level, but across the grades. Being in the Manly system has been good for him, and turned him into a handy player. Playing him at hooker has given him an excellent pass off the ground and toughened up his defence. It's also made him a valuable utility, who can cover multiple roles. It's easy to see why the timing was right for Souths.

Looking ahead, this might prove to be the right thing not just for Jamie but also for Manly. Only time will tell. But for now, at least we know our system works🙂

I think Souffs must be planning to play Humphreys at hooker, replacing Cook.
They have Lewis Dodd coming to play halfback on a three year contract.
He won't get a look in at 5/8 with Walker and Wighton there.
If Humphreys thought his path was blocked at Manly he miscalculated the opportunities to play half/five eight in the NRL at Souffs for several years.

Dodd was signed pre Wayne and has subsequently been dropped to reserve grade at St Helens. Apparently Dodd is gonna be on big money but that won't matter to Wayne if he prefers JH.

Ilias and reserve grade half Hawkins ( filled in when Ilias was out ) both gone for next year, so he looks to be 2nd in line for 7

I think Wayne 100% gave the green light to sign Dodd. He wasn’t ‘officially’ announced but everyone knew what was happening when south’s coach got sacked, he would’ve been giving input since then. I’d say it was him that also wanted Koloamatangi moved to lock which is a brave move when you have Cam Murray but has paid dividends. Would be annoying as a Phins fan having him have hands in 2 pies but I guess they are still going decent

Humphreys has been quoted as saying that he wants to play half…. Anyway not our concern anymore.

Just sayin’

If the Panthers can stay strong despite losing Leniu, Crichton, Kikau, Api and other test stars I really don't get why anyone is stressed about Manly losing Jamie Humphreys. The only issue is who takes his spot, and I'll take a wild guess and say the club has actually thought about this, lol.

Very Logical posts
You gain players and you lose players
And the clubs that invest in Innovative Leaders always find a way and win
Good Bye and Good Luck Jamie
Lets move on and get on with the job and Start Winning Manly

Walker is not going to last much longer and I wouldn’t be surprised if Bennett moves Jack W to centre after a few games of stifling their attack and kicking the ball out on the fill constantly.

Everything always turns to gold for Wayne too. All the talk bubbling away that his priorities were with Souths would have completely boiled over if the Phins lose the game last Friday night…in true Wayne style, they got the job done and the noise goes away!

Beau Alexander. Pretty sure he's in Harold Matt's this year, and I'm pretty sure they are mid table. I've not seen much, but his highlights package (as they would) are pretty impressive.

For 2025 Manly could look to Titans and pick up Tanah Boyd, he is behind Foran, Brimson, Campbell and they have Melbourne Rebels rugby half next year coming. He would cover Blacktown with ease and might see more firsts opportunity with Manly with DCE reps duty or touch wood injury. He has shown promise and could go well with a bit of a different opportunity.

He wouldn't be the worst depth option. I just wouldn't want him to be thought of as a DCE replacement down the track is all.
