Jamie Humphreys

"Adam Lucius", and people are thanking Ohgeez for the article haha. Gullible, gullible, gullible. Drink up the PR boys. Tastes great, doesn't it. Check the history between Lucius, the club and The Manly Daily back in the day.

Next you'll tell me Sam Fainu is rubbish, Schuster's contract negotiation was fantastic.

Joey Walsh !!! Hahahaha. As I said, I think the best prospective half at the club now is Brandy's son.

People need to wind it in here. We are just inside the 8. We beat The Knights, and we beat them well, but that doesn't make the previous 18 rounds (or whatever) disappear. People are jumping in the back of that thinking all our fortunes have turned around.

Are you implying he has simply made up that he toured the Titans facilities and met Bennett and the players?

Big call there.

Oh stfu.

People are having a go at me for loving one of our CURRENT juniors too much.

Soooooo negative - you dimwit. Also goes for the same flops who liked your comment.

It’s not the question of loving a current junior too much. It’s bagging the **** out of the kids that haven’t even had a go yet or having the gall to bag people being up beat about a good win and the possibility of making a run into the finals. “Flops” you say, people in glass houses.

I'm not suggesting that. What I'm suggesting is he's not the second coming of Jesus people are making him out to be, based on a family member that watched him in those lower grades as careful as smokin Joe does for us - and would you question him?

It was PR for losing Latu Fainu, Jamie Humphreys and probably Jake Arthur in the span of 18 months.

Another thing that frustrates me, is that this board is always okay bagging the living hell out of certain players (and I'm not directing this at you), like Schuster, Walker, Arthur, Humphreys, Harper, Fainu's etc etc etc most who I have 100% got behind, defended, supported and got ripped for it. But if I have a go at what I perceive to be hyping an unknown quantity, or one of their little favourites, I'm negative.

Do you see how ridiculous that is? It's doesn't compute.

Also, winning one game well is great. We need consistency though. Just because we beat The Knights well, doesn't all of a sudden mean everything that has transpired to that point is forgotten, and all of a dudden the club can do no wrong according to people, and should be celebrated. Isn't that ridiculous?

No, it's the super-hyping the unknown, while ragging what we HAVE. It's ridiculous. Like I said to Disco, it's the winning one game well, and all the inconsistency is forgotten, and the club has and can do no wrong. Dumb. It's the it's okay to bag the **** out of this that and the other player, but not other favourites. Stupid.

So yes, flops ! Forget glass - use mirrors.

Here’s a quote from you just last week.

‘There's no youthful exuberance, and the youngster we DO have (like James, Matterson, Condon) are CRAP, CRAP, CRAP. And Navale isn't the answer, he's just Sipley lite.’

I think most people would disagree with you & say Navale has showed plenty of promise that will be an answer to the first grade team in the coming years.
I don’t think anyone has a problem with you liking a junior, it’s probably got more to do with you saying every player we let go is some huge mistake & every young player we have/sign is poor recruitment. Even those that are yet to lace up a boot… In the last week you’ve said that Tuitavake + Fifita who are 23 & have barely played any 1st grade are huge losses but when we have a guy like Navale coming through that just isn’t good enough for you.

BTW if that article about Joey Walsh isn’t good enough for you then that’s fine, but you are throwing stones from a glass house when you are quoting & getting your information about Jacob Arthur leaving next year from an unreliable source like Zero Tackle…

We are all adults here no need to act like a child & call everyone names like ‘flops’ & ‘nimwits’ because they agree with what another poster has said

When you start a reply with "how you carry on", and it goes down from there, don't expect hugs and kisses in response.

Yes, I will **** talk unknown quantities (particularly ones I've heard first hand accounts of), particularly when the typical crew here bag the **** out of Jamie Humphreys, a player we HAVE developed and invested in. I will 100% defend him from you lot.

For the record, how you all lambasted Josh Schuster was a disgrace. I've still got a bee in my bonnet about it.

So no, my confidence in recruitment and retention isn't there. Is there something wrong with our pathways and development then? If these.pkauers we've developed keep leaving, or breaking down (even mentally).

We need.to be better. Support our players, our youth and our quality.

Edit: Alexander is my next great hope for DCE's succession. Is that okay with everyone, or is that somehow in everyone's stray imagination negative, too? I mean, I'm sure he'll be labelled mediocre if he ever leaves for whatever reason..

No one wants your hugs & kisses, it’s just called a bit of respect for others who want the same as you (manly winning a comp) but if you can’t have to refrain from name calling that says more about you then anyone else here.

Out of all the people that could say it’s a disgrace how Schuster was criticised you should be the last person talking. How ironic. Honestly it’s almost laughable coming from you - wake up to yourself & look in a mirror, you have been doing the exact same thing to young Walsh all week just because the club sees more potential in him then your favourite junior.

Can you also clarify if it was inside info when you said multiple times he’s a reject & no one else was chasing him or was that an assumption? Here’s my assumption of the pitch Siebs gave him to get the deal done, as a 18 yr old local halfback wouldnt you rather stay home behind one of the best modern day half’s of all time to learn the ropes? DCE has at most 2-3 years left before retiring which would make Walsh 20-21 & giving him every chance to be ready for first grade if good enough. Other options are play Rugby, move to QLD or be stuck behind Sam Walker who is a 10 year + halfback at chooks… I know what I’d be choosing.

Without wanting to be patronising, maybe just take a step back a second.

I havent seen anyone hyping Walsh as a messiah, I dont think anyone has claimed to see him play.

Fact is we have committed 3 years to an 18 year old who made junior Blues squads, captained junior Wallabies and was reported the been chased by two other clubs and the ARU.

Now they are all facts, whether he kicks on or not, who knows but there is no reason for us to not discuss.

The timing of the media release, could certainly be argued as a PR move but no club signs plays to 3 year contracts for PR. Especially when we had him training with us prior to Humphreys moving.

As for other players, there is no board against you, many will agree with you on players, many will disagree with you.
Nature of the beast.

You and I agree Samuela is a young star, we disagree Humphreys is. Just opinions.

This is all getting a little heated based on not much at all.

I'm gonna take a lil pause, see you all tomorrow 😊

As for Souths, Cody Walker is also 35 next year too. Younger than DCE, but Bennett usually doesn't wait until his players have a notable form drop before giving them the tap on the shoulder.

With the signing of Brooks and Simpkin, the path to first grade as a half is much clearer at Souths than here at the moment.

Here’s a left field idea. - what if the idea is to let Humphreys develop under Bennett for 2 years then bring him back as one of our halves when DCE & Brooks retire?

The club could be playing the long game here & may have come to an agreement with Humphreys & will have plenty of cash to throw at an established half at that point.

I'd love that.

I have wanted to see Humphries in NRL for a fair while so it sucks that he debuted well and is now on his way out the door...
However, he is 23 and, with no vlear pathway to playing regular NRL with us, this just seems like the best possible career move right now for him...
I have no idea wbat souffs offered him but I do not imagine it would have needed to be much for us to not be able to match it - just because of where he sits as a priority for the club right now...
in Jamie's case time is every bit as important as money in his next contract - because he is running out of it when it comes to establizhing himself as an NRL-level half...
