Jamal Fogarty

He took a team predicted to get the spoon to minor premiers. DCE took us to 9th again. His tenure , although littered with individual highlights, has been an abject 10 mill plus failure. 3 or 4 winning finals in a decade.

Not sure what Fog will bring other than professionalism and a TEAM mindset but I doubt it could be worse than the last decade.

I want a team that wins and talent is unlocked across that team, not a decade long highlight reel from a very talented player who wins meaningless games and fails to bring the best out in othes, Ola bring a classic example.
Manly haven't been able to make the 8 in consecutive seasons since 2013-2014. DCE has been the halfback in our team that entire time.

The Fogarty signing is a step in the right direction. It's a damn miracle we didn't botch it.

Like a lot of people here I watched the Raiders vs Broncos game on Sunday. I don't believe Fogarty was the reason they capitulated, that comes down to the edge defence not containing Walsh. Not to mention, the Broncos have been pulling off double-digit comebacks multiple times this year.

Jamal has been great all year and I'm very happy we signed him - but he does seem to get nervous in big moments, especially with his kicks - the one area that $CE was pretty great.

Some may say we did botch it, thanks to believing Ricky's bluff.
Paying a 32 year old 650k plus for 3 years.

I hope we get our moneys worth and don't lose Walsh.

Fogarty signing has 0 impact on Walsh. Walsh is a left footed player & has exclusively played on that side of the field all year. Luke Brooks will be the guy on the chopping block if he doesn’t have a good year.

No problem, Brooks always steps up to lead when the pressu.......wait 😂

Maybe in a year or two Joey will be our guy, who knows.
I was disappointed with Brooks this year. He did seem to take more responsibility, kicking etc, and he had a few good games, but overall was not one of our leading players.

Which you'd hope your men in key positions such as 5/8 would regularly be up with the most influential players.

eg he finished 9th in our MVP, even scoring fewer points than DCE who had by far his worst season.

Sure it's difficult for halves when the forwards are lacking, but still.

Next year he'll start at 6 but not sure how long he'll hold that spot.

Yeah I think the 3yrs was too much, Ricky got his boy an extra $650k there.

Yep agree 100%. I thought Brooks was going to be a great buy, but he certainly looked flat this season. He had the odd show of brilliance.

Pressure will be on if Walsh is firing underneath him.

What position does Walsh play?

Its reductive to reduce him to a number.

Halves these days a generally right and left sided. Fog currently plays right. Walsh and Brooks currently play left.

If you dont think Walsh can play in the halves on his current left side with a 6 on his back rather than a 7 then you must not think much of him.

I know you are attempting a ‘gotcha moment’ because he wears the 7 but if you watched any reserve grade games this year you’d know how stupid it is. He 100% played a 5/8 roll while Wakeham took care of the game management & long kicking.

I’ll give you a tip for free, he’ll start as a 6 before moving into the 7 roll when Fog retires - similar path to what Luke Metcalf has been on the last Few years
