He's a good get. Will do a great job next year. Wish we could flick Chez now and bring Fogarty in this season. I can't wait to see Jamal put up one of those spiral bombs next year.
Make the cap fit. Mestrov will think of something. Backload a 3 year deal as we know Turbos will be resigning for far less (if at all!)
Stats don’t look great for Fogarty there but realistically we haven’t brought him to run the ball & bust tackles. Just need him to kick great & give early ball to the star attackers we already have. Kicking & composure will be his biggest assets for us
What happened to the 550k deal, and where does this put Walsh now ?. And
no spare change for a decent forward.
Walsh has played 2 games & missed about 10… I wouldn’t be worried about him getting pushed out, he needs to worry about getting on the park & developing. Sadly I don’t think we’ll be having spare money for decent forwards until 2027
Nobody claiming Fog the better player but DCE has made his choice.
Also worth noting at 36 there is no guarantee that 26 and 27 DCE stack up to 2025 DCE.
We've already seen how average he has looked the last few weeks and we have seen with players like Thurston how quickly age can catch up with you.
That's a fair price for a top quality NRL proven half back..
Raiders contract was $550k.. so we were always paying around $600/650k ( still cheap for a half)

Raiders went back and matched the 2 years. Probably same money

So 3 years and up the anti to $700k...that's business

One is 17 the other 18 so at least 2 of not 3 years away.
Manly doing the right thing...having a go.. if it doesn't come off then we will just have to go with Arthur and Brooks as halves for the next 2 seasons at least.. and that's not a great prospect.
I heard Jarrod Croker talking about the Fogarty situation over a month ago.. he said Canberra would do anything to keep him.. smart footy brain, great team player and Ricky wants him around to teach the young halves at the Raiders coming through

Those stats don’t look right, can’t remember Daly kicking any field goals this year.
This is a good deal, with the money halves are getting atm Fogarty on $700 and Brooks on $600 is having 2 experienced halves on the books and fees up some $$ for other areas. Fogarty does everything you need a half to do.

I’m not as confident as most, I’m also not against it, hopefully he’ll prove to be a good signing, however.
If we can’t add some decent forwards, I don’t see the value in the signing.
May have been better to consider Sexton, Savala, or promote from within short term, with the aim of going hard on a pack rebuild.
If we’re not able to address the pack, in particular 8,9,12,13 possibly 14, won’t really matter what he brings if where getting run over in the middle or constantly loosing the ruck, the yardage battle, getting pinned on our bench rotation, etc
Savala on 200 - 250, clear out some dead wood and add some youth, energy and mobility to our pack, think I’d prefer that approach.
I’m not suggesting Fogarty’s a bad player or a bad signing, haven’t had the chance to see how it goes, but without a pack adjustment, it has question marks, if we have extra cap and can add there, maybe, if not I’m sceptical about it being a good signing, as always, time will tell.
