At the dollars originally mentioned , circa $500k he’s good value , but getting in a bidding war and having to pay circa $700k or more I think we shouldn’t bid.

As others have said , put the money into a really good forward , and make do with the halves until the juniors come good.

If The Forgarty move is going to become a bidding war, let the Raiders have him. Save the money for an elite forward or two by bringing up Arthur for the couple of years, entice his dad BA over as assistant coach and if Seibold fails, elevate BA as the coach. He at least understands defence and has had some success with bringing on youth when it's time for Walsh and Large.
Just my opinion.

Also, do we really need a player who's getting all sentimental about his kids leaving school and having to move house. He's only coming for the money not because he's excited about coming to Manly. And you're right, Arthur can tackle, he'll do a good job in the interim. We desperately need to bolster our forward pack asap.

Thats not true, you have players who are excited about joining a new club, sure, the money is paramount but in a lot of cases it's not all about the money. Lomax took a big dip in money to join Parra...just sayin'..

and yet so many on here attack DCE for 'chasing the money'. so just so i understand.... If you play for manly it has to be for the badge, the history, the passion.... But defo not the money?

Fogerty is a good solid player that will only be coming here because his options are limited. If I were him id stay in Canberra.

The max I would counter offer Fogarty would be $675k per year. This way both parties are happy with the outcome. That increase should be enough to lure him away from Canberra as it will be his last large contract before retirement.
It doesn’t burn too much of our cap for a starting half which keeps us inline to strengthen other areas.

That not true I'm sure Teddy was excited to join roosters as Brooks was excited to join Manly. Both getting out of a sinking ship. Only 2 examples.

Jamal shops in the same local shops as us. Nice fella. Have seen him at training with my blokes junior team and was really keen to help them. Good citizen who would be a good fit at the mighty Eagles. My son saw him at the shops yesterday, hit him with a "big fan of you and Manly, any chance?"
