Jamal Fogarty

Sounds crazy but DCE could do worse than watch the unheralded 7 from the Titans.
Does everything the modern game requires- plays fast at the advantage line off the quick play the balls, smooth passing game both sides without looking flustered and great long and short kicking game. Seems to usually take the right options.

Doesn’t have half the natural ability of DCE but keeps his head and gets the very most from his ability. DCE would be well served to spend a couple of weeks concentrating on the basics like Jamal provides to get his confidence back, These headless chook displays make it impossible for us to go anywhere.
When the captain looks clueless it’s no wonder the rest of them lose their heads.

Need DCE to lift with Tom’s return or we are genuinely finished this year.and the spoon looms.
This aged... really well.

Mitch Moses in your mind was so poor but the fact is He signed a Elite dollar contract with the Eels
Poor players do not sign million dollar contracts

Brooks in your mind was so good but the fact is that he singed a reduced bargain priced contract with the Eagles
Great Halves do not become reduced bargain priced players

YOUNG gun Mitchell Moses has knocked back a $3 million three-year offer to remain at Wests Tigers and is asking for an immediate release to switch to Parramatta after signing a two-year deal with the Eels from 2018.

News Corp reports Brooks will earn around $2m over a potential three-year deal at the Sea Eagles, a hefty pay cut from this season’s $1.15m Tigers paycheck. Channel 9’s Danny Weidler reported the deal could instead be four years.
Is this the same Mitchell Moses that the Eels immediately tried to offload by the end of 2018, to keep Corey Norman of all players? Hardly a world-beater then. That's who Brooks had as his only foil for many years; a spoon-winning half, who was told to leave by the garbage 2018 Eels!

Moses was not the player he is today.

Is Moses the player they think he is today?
It shows how much of a dearth of talent there is in the halves when people say he’s in the top 3-4 in the game. That is also highlighted by the fact a soon to be 37 year old will command $1million+ for his next contract

I'm not sure DCE would have ever led us to another Premiership. But I'm damn sure Fogarty won't.

Oh he is a good player. I'm not going to say any different. He wouldn't be in the NRL if he couldn't play. But for mine he's not the answer to taking Manly to its next Premiership win.
I honestly think Brooks and Large could, and if Large develops well he could be ready by next year.

Does DCE have great ball playing? I feel he is a bit of a flat track bully. He's unbelievable when we are on top, but when we are in a grind I'm not sure he has that great ball playing. He's an awesome runner and great support and has no problem at all with retreating defence. Does his ball playing stand up against a solid defensive unit? One could argue that it doesn't. Even in Origin he really just plays as a distributor or runner. He doesn't really ball play or run Shape like the other best halves we have seen in recent memory.
Good point this one !!

Think the point has already been made and hardly any merit in trying to sign Fogarty above what he is currently valued at that 650 K range .and in all likelihood the figure that the Raiders will stick to in re signing him soon
And despite the good range of attributes that Fogarty does have , again , can hardly warrant outlaying overs for him and particularly in regard to his rating comparison with D C E
Manly on the record now of course and previously calibrating their future cap setting on or trying to retain D C E on 750 K , so does seem a bit irrelevant now in any expectation and on present indications of bringing Fogarty in .

He is definitely not the player DCE is but they have completely different styles and also pay brackets. Us signing Fogarty allows us to spend in other needed areas which in turn could make us more competitive overall.
I’m all for it

I dont think the Raiders will take up that option.

They have Sanders coming through.

I think he whole this is they are trying to negotiate him down.
And right now jamal is playing for a contract and its $$$ value
Rumoured it fluctuates from about 400 to 650 over 15 rounds and manly possibly talking 750.
But the round 6 clause in jamals contract resets his price again in some ways and possibly enables manly to offer lower past that date

Cherry in a similar situation we think playing his best footy and trying to add a few zeros/ each week.

Both clubs hoping it takes months to sort considering current output

To be serious threat in the competition a team needs a decent halfback and that's why halves get paid the big $$$. I don't really get how us going for a budget half option and using that money elsewhere helps us get any closer to winning a comp? Anyway, it is what it is, with DCE going, next year will be a rebuilding year and I just hope that the young fellas will develop and be ready for 2027 and beyond.... We've had hopes on other young halves before and that didn't work out so well for them ......

This is probably a question for everyone rather than just replying specifically to you,but are we any closer to a premiership with DCE? He’s a better overall halfback than, say Fogarty, but does Fogarty possess attributes DCE doesn’t that may suit the team in the next couple of years and at a lower cost.I like that the club is looking at the bigger picture

Putting my pessimistic hat on for a moment, I look ahead a few years and it doesn’t look so rosy to me. We are potentially looking at a team that no longer has turbo or jurbo, an untried set of halves, an at best serviceable backline outside of Lehi, with nothing currently on the horizon in terms of emerging forward talent, including hooker. Hopefully there is more coming through the junior ranks than just Walsh/Large. The post Trbojevic/DCE world looks a tad scary to me. Mestrov sure has some challenges assuming he survives DCE-gate.
