Jamal Fogarty

Sometimes you don't realise people aren't around anymore until a thread they've started pops up. Anyone know where Susan went? His posts were always really insightful
HIS posts ??? HIS ??/ how do you assume the pronoun should be HIS, I'm getting very misogynistic vibes Budgie ?
Anyways ,she is overseas and has been for awhile, not sure if they posts under a non de plume or even another gender. Hopefully they come back !!

Hi mate
how's the futures going ?

I check in now and again to have a look from Saigon.

To be honest this mess just has to be looked at as an opportunity. Anyone who thinks we can win a competition with basically the same pack of underperforming forwards we have had for a few years isn't really watching. DCE is a fine player individually but in big games, without a dominant pack , he's not come close for years. In saying that not many would. The idea that out pigs will turn up on GF day and match Panthers / Storm etc is just wishful thinking.
Why waste two years knowing DCE will play great at times and we won't win a comp.

So if you accept that our window is a couple of years away , DCE leaving lets us

1. If we do get Fogarty, see what the brilliance in our backline could do with an organized as opposed to brilliant hot and cold half like DCE. Nothing may change in all likelihood but woukd be interesting to see for a year and give an insight as to what approach best suits our great talent out wide

2. Fast forward some junior talent that is regarded as the best in years -Walsh / Large

3. Free up some cash to address the other reason why we never compete when the whips are cracking - a top class 9.

Two years more of DCE in reality just defers what needs to be done with very little chsnce of a title. If he hasn't got one now , he's not going to get one with our current forwards at 38.

Seems like a no brainer for me

Not sure the Reynolds link was anything other than an attempt to keep fans on the clubs side, but Fogarty link was genuine, especially given the halves situation at the Raiders
That's what I thought too, but heard on the radio again today they were looking at Reynolds and.......Foran 😵‍💫

Probably shouldn't believe that Reading the play guy. He loathes Manly

Hi Sue good to hear from you mate .I was hoping you were keeping an eye on STs and the team

Yes all good still same re the Futures etc ,a bit more volatility now with Trumpy and his tariffs and various global wars etc .

I agree with your summation .DCE is playing well but the craftiest coach ever, old Wayne Bennett always let his top players go a year or 2 early ,as age does catch up with rugby league players and he avoided getting saddled with with big pay days for an ageing star who may not see out the contract. Also you could do worse than Jamal ,he is not as hot as DCE ,but from what I have seen he is not as cold either when the chips are down, and has a very good kicking game .
He would suffice untill Walsh at least is ready

So I think we should look to the future and if its Jamal (not that we are any certainty of getting him ) for a year or 2 I think that would then enable us to get a topline FR which we really need .
I think Simpkins at 9 shows some promise to be honest ,but there is probaly 3 forward positions we could improve on 9,FR,SR

Anyways mate great to hear from you ,don't be a stranger and Go Manly !!

It’s fraught with danger but with Brooks stepping up as the dominant half, I’d prefer we just blood a rookie like the Tigers did with Galvin. Get Walsh in there and use Arthur as the depth. Alternatively, put Hoppa at 1 and Tom to 6. Losing DCE needs to come with an upside and sadly signing any other half outside of Cleary, Hughes, or Moses, is a downgrade. Might as well get the development ball rolling. That to me is more appealing than a holding pattern with a sub-standard half like Fogerty.

We’ll only tread water with the likes of Fogerty. We won’t win a comp with a rookie but we’ll be a year closer.

Plus in that scenario we could buy a forward
