Yep - he's definitely a player, but too slow but to be an above average half.I like Arthur and you can’t question his effort. I just worry he doesn’t have the speed to be a running threat which makes him too predictable as an NRL half.
In attack yes but I would worry about his ability around the ruck which seems to be our biggest flaw at the momentHe'd actually make a great Lock all. Backrow of:
11. Haumole Olakau'atu
12. Caleb Navale
13. Jake Arthur

Similar view, pretty slow off the mark and doesn’t look that sharp with his feet.I like Arthur and you can’t question his effort. I just worry he doesn’t have the speed to be a running threat which makes him too predictable as an NRL half.
for mine i thought 1 play showed the reason he shouldn't be in first grade, 1st half manly defending repeated sets. souths swing the ball and a player fumbles it, j.a. picks it up and starts down the sideline. as defenders converge he stays wide making zero effort to move away from the sideline and is tackled into touch. yes, he was saved by the referee deciding he hadn't taken advantage so we got the feed from a scrum where Souths knocked on but an experienced player shouldn't let himself get caught out like that, especially when it was obvious he was never going to outrun the defendersSurprised not a lot of commentary today on Jake Arthur. I thought he was close to my MOM. Set up a lot of our attacking raids and organised the team really well across the park. Also his defence has stepped up big time from last I saw him play. Thought he played the full 80 minutes also??
I think you are a hard marker. Yes I remember the play and you are probably right. I also remember numerous occasions over the last few seasons where our highly experienced Australian and SOO halfback continually jumping out of our defensive line to open up a massive gaps for the opposition. If I had a choice between the two errors, I know which one I would take.for mine i thought 1 play showed the reason he shouldn't be in first grade, 1st half manly defending repeated sets. souths swing the ball and a player fumbles it, j.a. picks it up and starts down the sideline. as defenders converge he stays wide making zero effort to move away from the sideline and is tackled into touch. yes, he was saved by the referee deciding he hadn't taken advantage so we got the feed from a scrum where Souths knocked on but an experienced player shouldn't let himself get caught out like that, especially when it was obvious he was never going to outrun the defenders
