It is Schuster time

2020 will be remembered as an absolute horror show
The good news is there seems to be good signs leading up to 2021, with some Super young talent coming throgh and key players back.
There is no complaints from me Schu got a go as was the most dangerous player Manly have had since Tom T was injured
Just more wretched luck and hardly even surprising considering the year Of footy so far.
Interesting to see todays team, with half the squad out injured....they have no Foran so still a chance....just
 
Fortunately on the books for next season but no doubt can still be approached after November by other clubs so would think it a priority to try and extend his Manly contract reasonably soon . Becoming quite desensitised about the continued injury toll , just one of those seasons , well can only hope so . Wouldn "t mind giving Metcalfe a run at 6 , did not do too bad there at Black Town apparently on a few occasions last year . Unlikely if Cust and Croker are available but could offer something different and every chance better if given an opportunity and can aim up O K in defence . Has been training with the main squad all season , so should not lack any familiarity with the sides general playing structures [ not that it has been going particularly well this season but should be able to slot in O K ] Have also just noticed that Walker may be available again , prefer to give him more rest and still Metcalfe a go though .

There are two good things that have come out of this season. First is the fact that we won enough games early on that we're going to avoid the wooden spoon. And second, as you pointed out, we have some great young talent coming through the ranks. Players like Funa, Olakau'atu and Schuster especially have shown that they are first grade quality.

What's killed our season is that we just haven't been able to catch a break with backline injuries.

Metcalfe is off contract, may as well see what he's got in the big time. Give him an opportunity to earn a new contract. We know what Croker etc can do, let's give Metcalfe 3 weeks to prove his worth

I guess that depends on whether Cust is fit. I think Metcalf has been playing fullback for Blacktown hasn't he ?? but has always been a half through juniors. Do we give him a shot in the halves or is his long term potential at fullback ?? We could push Funa to Horhays wing and Metcalf to 1 if we want to see how he goes. He was good in the 9's, but that is a world away from the rigours of NRL.

I wouldn't be unhappy with giving him a go - the season is shot so lets have a look at a few of these guys. Des needs to name Guaca too this week, it'll be a crime if he doesn't give him some game time

Pretty sure he is ours through to the end of 2022. He signed a two year extension with us last year.

They do when they havent played a full game for a year. Noticed Hoppa had the same problem last week. Match fit is very different from training fit. You only get match fit from playing matches. Surely you've been involved in sports and realised that fact.

Schuster is signed until end of 2022
 
Thought it might have been more than cramp when they put an ice pack on his ankle when he came off
Well at least he showed enough to raise our hopes of a better season next year
